In the modern AFL era, "family reasons" = good enough player to be poached by interstate clubs.
Will it become an overuse term? Discuss.
Nice try to get a laugh. Do you think "family reasons" only apply to players leaving Adelaide and not affecting other clubs?Would you rather them just come out and say living in Adelaide is s**t and so is the football club?
Also I think we need to be a bit RUTHLESS. Players shouldn't just get to demand a move home, and clubs be made to feel guilty for keeping them to contracts. That's starting to creep in a little bit.

Gibbs at Carlton, Ablett at GCS...I'm sure there are a few others..Yes.

Try and do some research next time. Cheers!
Or they could just go where they want that makes them happy and probably earn even more money. Sure they'll never man up, but hey.2 years interstate from my family & I left them the same age these guys do via the draft and on less than half of their 70-100k wage...
Man up.

It's weird how some people describe certain players as wanting to go home on compassionate reasons ie. Charlie Cameron. Is someone sick or does he just want to go home like everyone else?
Feels like media is more sympathetic to certain players wants based on ... I don't know what..
if you sign a contract for a job you can leave whenever you want. the AFL are on shaky ground already with the way they try to enforce contracts. Eventually someone will take it court (like Tippett was going to)
