I like Will Schofield. I find his comments measured and insightful.
Don’t mind the commentary team, can take or leave Montagna, but the others are very good and fair.

Will be a good break from the Channel 7 bozos, the are unrelentingly bad. From BT the boorish all about me commentary to the fawning Hamish to the bleeding obvious Richo.

Not seeing Gus named is still hurting 😞.

But in better news, Chad has had a haircut & no longer resembles a Poodle cross.
I know you're a Sheldrick fan DQ but it is going to be at least 30 weeks until the name A. Sheldrick is named on a team sheet again. Come on son, get it together!

I’ve circled 15 Feb 2024 on the calendar (30 weeks from today) & will count down the days.
Chin up DQ. It could be worse. There could be the name of a player you really like but kinda dread seeing on the team sheet most weeks (J. Rowbottom)

Or worse, there could be a player whose name you want to see but will never see named for us ever again (A. Aliir)

Just keep counting down the days on that calendar :p

The only thing that’ll truly improve the season now is seeing the Elaine Dance on the big screen at Optus on Saturday night.

If there is a fuel voucher up for grabs*, you have yourself a deal.

*Or if Swans win by literally any margin

How many would they take because I think Francis should go too.

Maybe, was more thinking it was also an opp for the WA lads to catch up with family and mates.

Was also thinking Jack could still be a late in for Buddy whose banged up body should not be risked on the Optus surface.

Would be an amazing experience for Buller to play at optus. I was sitting behind a bunch of his mates when he made his debut at the Gabba - they were a very rowdy bunch.

On a related note, WA has been a great recruiting ground for us of late. Warner x 2, Logan, Sheldrick and Buller are all either in the first team or very close when fit.

From reading on here we are an low chance of winning Saturday night.

We've won 1 of our last 5, plus a training drill, since the bye. I go into every game thinking we can win, but something would have to change. Although, the way Freo are going, they might just be the worse of 2 poor teams in a shank-out under the lights.

Fwiw, I reckon we will win.

Expect McLean will tag Jackson around the ground as he did with some success against English. Hickey struggles to break Into a trot at the moment.

Hopefully Chad and Lloyd have good games and I can’t imagine the mids will be pantsed as badly as last week.

I’m a little surprised that Clamps wasn’t selected, given the success he’s had on Jordan Clark.

Clark and Young need to be shut-down, as Freo absolutely MUST try and play a faster game (or Longmuir will be crucified).

Their ruck division consists of; Jackson. That's it. A forward would have to ruck, either Treacy or Amiss. So, not so different from ours except for Jackson being a specialised ruck. i would actually reverse the roles tomorrow and play Amartey as first ruck. He has the athleticism to go with and out leap Jackson.

They have a lot of small, nippy forwards. We need to stop them. Harry could play on Sonny. I think we must play this game one on one. Especially the backs. I think we have the backline to destroy their forward movement. Obviously, Blakey plays tall this week as we have no others. he will probably play on either Corbett or Treacy. if he plays on Treacy, good luck Treacy in catching him. He will create havoc.

The midfield is still the problem. We must get more out of the centre. Chad will help with his run and gun and hard body. If Freo did not have so many dangerous small forwards I would be tempted to suggest Ollie go in there to get some quick ball out. But will all their smalls I would prefer he plays back. He and Lloyd will be pivotal to us beating their nippy Mosquito Fleet. I know Wil plays that thankless role of Forward Pocket but I would prefer to see him further up the ground where he can have an impact. He is a very good field kick and I think is wasted in the pocket. Glad to Paps perform so well last week.

This is not going to be popular. We still target Bud far too often and waste many opportunities to score in doing so. He played well last week but he would have still played as well if we only targeted him between 10 & 20% instead of 42%. The other times he was not in a position to win the ball or was surrounded by opponents. Players need to raise the eyes and pick the best option. It could be any of the forwards and if the opposition are targeting Bud then there will be other forwards free. I don't know how many times last week Logan was free, his opponent being second for Bud, and we ignored him. Same goes for wil, Amartey, Heens etc. We need to use the leading forwards. Amartey was really clever in his leads. fist leading forward, then back, then forward again. He times his leads very well and he and Gulden have a golden connection.

I hope we win this although it is always hard against them at home on the cement parking lot.

Why don't you marry him? Two posts within 3 posts about Roberts. Sheesh, don't have a boner.
Only one about Roberts. The other one was answering the post that answered mine about him not being ready. The other thing is you don't cite others who like certain players but pick on me. Why? I am only looking a mids structure and saying this is what we need and a big bodied mid is needed in there when Mills is resting. Roberts the Resies watchers assure me is not quite ready. So be it. We have to go with what we have.
