Malcolm Turnbull - So long!

Labor held defection talks with Ken Wyatt
Last month, Aged Care Minister Ken Wyatt held secret talks with senior Labor figures (including fellow Indigenous MP and Labor frontbencher Linda Burney) about crossing the floor… for good.

Under the Australian Electoral Commission's declared new boundaries, Wyatt holds his Perth seat of Hasluck by just 2.1 per cent. So he's toast. But after changing sides? Hard to say; a forceful protest vote, to be sure, but if the swing to Labor remains cyclonic, he could just be sweet as a nut. Of course, this was all before the new PM coincidentally announced a royal commission into Wyatt's usually dull policy principality.

The real worrying thing is they think they can normally destroy a Labor Government within 1 term but think it will take more than that this time.
They’ve thrown everything they can at Shorten and none of it has stuck. I have hopes that Murdoch’s malevolent influence in Oz politics is slowly waning.

Hopefully restricted to power within his stupid political party of choice. About what they deserve.

The Libs are in turmoil & unraveling as a party. The 'broad church' is split. The spires are falling. Only held together by the love of power in Government. That power is splintering. The billionaire bosses are pulling the strings & the party is dancing, or perhaps writhing in pain.
The Conserves, Women, Evangelicals, traditional religious rump, the small L Libs, the media bosses, the supportive 'shock jocks', the traditional wets & drys. The whole lot, the whole 'party is in a bind. They have no direction. They are fighting over the steering wheel & headed towards a big tree.
Hate, bullying, ignorance, ideology, racism, sexism, its all their. Much worse than the ALP had with Rudd. Rudd was a nut. A smart man full of arrogance. He felt he was President, not a party leader.
No the LNP has been run by selfish, greedy, & conflicted men.
Like both parties, 20 years ago we had at least a modicum of respect within & between parties, & indeed to Politicians in general. Thats been eroded by a succession of self interested greed people & ideologues.
I think a lot of the blame lies with the infiltration into our pluralistic democratic secular culture by the American style evangelical beliefs. Based on 'hate of the others'. They want to live like its the 1950's. They want to ignore the changes that have happened in the world. They have attached themselves to our traditional Conservative culture & helped inflame the hate of the other. Whether its Islam, colour, 'different' lifestyle, Much of science & the educated.
We may not be as split & conflicted as they are in the USA, but we are headed that way.
Are we headed for another 'dark' age.? The religious & the rich joining forces again to dominate & control society with poverty & fear?

Just askin, ;)

lol apparently Tone's sister has been approached to be a candidate for Wentworth
Openly Gay Woman?
Doomed from the start.
I want to know who will run in Tony's electorate next election.
He won't get preselected, unless the Libs are simpletons

History tells us that when that happens revolution follows.

When the church becomes so broad that it embraces opposites or mutually antagonistic viewpoints a split is bound to happen. The American style hitching of a hollowed-out shell of Christianity* to free market capitalism is part of the story, but there is more to it than that.

*stripped of any traditional Christian values apart from sexual puritanism and staunch anti-abortionism. Stripped of anything resembling love, compassion, patience, forgiveness, humility, kindness etc - these traits are despised as "lefty".

As someone recently said, if the Coalition is indeed a broad church, the only question on everyone’s lips is “pew, what’s that smell?”

Excellent post.

Saw Wyatt on Question Time the other day. He's a quality pollie, one of their few.

Not according to the Libs, they were lining up to Deselect him.

With the swing against the Libs, prevailing view is that they don’t need too.....

Still all quiet on the Google front.

Only Bolt has written something that makes no sense, he’s just pointing out that, according to himself, the ABC are a bunch of hypocrites (that was him coming out on the front foot and hitting readers with the strongest argument he posseses) and then randomly taking quotes from The Australian newspaper (for some reason he is yet to explain) even though he works for The Herald Sun. Who is he trying to convince?

Incidentally it seems like Bolt is waaaaaaaay out of the loop nowadays. He thought Dutton was going to be our PM, and tried to stop Morrison from being PM. Now he’s retrospectively carrying on as if he engineered the whole thing. Aside from the conservatives, no one must be throwing him a bone.

No doubt tomorrow he will be writing about whatever outcome happens as if he were the mastermind. Hypothetical imagined Andrew Bolt story;

“When someone like Malcolm Turnbull is PM, we need people like my glorious master, the American Rupert Murdoch, to step in to ensure that we have the leader befitting our country. Except for all the times I said Dutton was going to be PM, my glorious master, the American Rupert Murdoch, craftily engineered that our country should be governed by a weird-arse occultist... I just didn’t want to give away the surprise. I also initially and emphatically stated that Murdoch didn’t displace Turnbull... but this was due to Turnbull still managing to undermine the country from his $480M Penthouse in New York. Curse you Turnbull!”

EXACTLY like i said they would.

That thick dickhead markson deserves to be singled out also for her calling Chris Uhlmanns report ( about newscorp playing god )
" Disgusting and untrue "

Am I reading that many many stakeholders not only agreed that the NEG is good, but that it should be in place ASAP.

But a lazy dozen politicians and a couple of media barons are pulling out all the stops to block it, and have so far succeeded.

Why isn’t this front and centre every day?
