The hawks have had more than their fair share of losses under Mitchell but Saturday was something of a turning point.
For the first time, instead of the standard rebuild discussion, the faithful turned the blowtorch on coach sam mitchell.
This is an inevitable reality for a rebuilding coach and history suggests that it generally gets hotter from here …
Say the line Red Bull. 😂

No club board on Bigfooty is free of posters asking questions of their coach after a 0-2 start, so if this is your big “gotcha” moment it just shows how desperate you really are.

The faithful 😉 as expected, have been resounding in their support of the club legend in his first 2 seasons.
Saturday was notable as it was the first time many fans applied the heat to coach mitchell, which is not an easy thing for supporters to do with a legend.
You can feign it’s just business as usual on a club board after a loss but we both know Saturday was different.
For the first time in his tenure, it was coach mitchell who was fairly and squarely in the supporters sights …

If the Eagles continue to get thrashed week in week out and be completely uncompetitive like they were for much of 2022 and 2023, one has to wonder whether the club management will finally say enough is enough and replace Adam Simpson in the top job.

I get that the Eagles are in the rebuilding phase, the season is only two weeks in and the Eagles have met a finals contender in Port and a premiership contender in GWS, but West Coast being held goal-less for two quarters against GWS in fine weather isn't the first time something like this has happened in recent seasons, and only inaccurate kicking by Port at the Adelaide Oval prevented a loss between 80-90 points. Sides in a rebuilding phase are going to cop heavy defeats from time to time as they learn and improve, but they shouldn't just be getting chopped up every week and show no signs of improvement.

And a club needs the right senior coach to oversee the rebuild. The Eagles team that Adam Simpson took over in 2014 was a talented mid-ladder team that just needed a few adjustments to be turned into a premiership contender, which he did. Clearly he was the right choice of senior coach back then. But is he the right man for the job to completely rebuild a team that he has now coached for a decade that has gone from premiers in 2018 to an easy-beat by 2022 with this continuing into 2023 and into early 2024? On results alone, one would have to say no.

You try so hard. It’s cute.

is Fagan in trouble if his case goes to the Supreme Court?

Yes, if a HRC complain goes to the Supreme Court then something has gone terribly awry.

I would have said bevo, but it seems like winning a premiership at a club like bulldogs gives you lifetime tenure at the place.

Surely Sam Mitchell needs to start delivering something or the pressure will mount. Has achieved nothing with the group

His group isn’t that good though.

He needs a bit more time IMO.

This will be his third season and he is going in with a win loss percentage of 31%. You can’t sustain that for 3 years in an afl landscape without serious questions asked of your future
Reckon you can when you’re a favourite son who came in with a 5hitty list,

Bucks had a Premiership list and won nothing and lasted 10 years.

Mitchell will get a few more years - rightly so.

Buckley made finals his first few seasons, apples and oranges.

Yes agree on the favorite son part. Not sure why you get 4 years of sitting down the bottom of the ladder, you would expect if they are still bottom 4 next season he is gone.

He inherited a premiership team. Of course he should have made finals.

Have a bad feeling it’ll go to the Supreme Court most likely.

Makes me wonder if Fages should step down and ease the pressure on himself especially at his age.

Goodwin, Mitchell, or Adam Simpson.

Just updating my prediction now the season has begun;

Goodwin has probably given himself some breathing room, but Simpson and Mitchell are well and truly under the pump if neither of their teams can demonstrate progress/improvement compared to last year. And the early 2024 signs are not good.

Still a lot of footy to be played, of course.

Been a couple of other club legends coach the club and get the ass after a few years of not producing results
