According to one poster we had 1 inside 50 tackle for the entire night,
Was that in our F50, or theirs please?
which seems impossible, but no wonder it bounced right out of there and Geelong kicked to our unprepared/unaccountable defence. That's his job imo to keep the forward pressure not kick goals they're just a bonus.
As one of our fittest, two-way-running players, Keays has license to roam. Do you not see Keays bob up all over the ground, very often being a connector from a side wing into our F50?
He is not just a "defensive forward" camped in our F50 guarding their backs.
In fact, their backs have to watch out and guard him.

The injured, ribs-broken Rachele is our crumbing forward, and Rankine when he's down there as well.

We have to invest in our future potential premiership 22.
If we aren't good enough this year - and last night says we aren't - then no, we can't be removing our best kids.

yes you can. Dowling, Taylor, Pedlar, Ryan all need games too. we have to set standards. They arent going to get better if they arent held to the same standards as anyone else. The best kids still need to earn their spot.

It’s not about standards, you have to treat some players differently at selection because not all selections are the same.

Huge difference between how you treat a 26 year old at selection vs a 19 year old with a huge ceiling.

When you have 1-2 year players you have to ride some bad games. Curtin and Draper are elite talents who have shown plenty.

And even in a quiet game, Draper still had 3-4 moments where he did something that all those guys simply aren’t capable of.

Its a professional sport not a fairytale. If you want finals and have players in the Sanfl that will better our efforts to get us there then we should use them. If we were sitting 2-3 had a few long term injuries, have at it, select all the kids you want. But we cant just blame Nicks for the loss when Curtin and Draper can be equally blamed for going missing and not pulling their weight.

Im not saying drop them, im just saying with their low contributions they are not setting the world on fire and we have guys in the Sanfl that could do better. Do we want finals or not?

The last time Rob was droppped he dominated sanfl while Strachan got pantsed in afl. His last three sanfl games he not only dominated there in the ruck but averaged 30 touches. Best of 37 in 2022. Strachan never did what Rob did in sanfl. Neither will mcandrew.
Don't we have an sanfl bye next?

Unfortunately you're right. He may not have coached us last night, but you only have to listen to Campo last night to know what the club thinks.

Crouch won't either.
Campos assessment of ROB was disturbing, and may be a true reflection of what the club thinks on the matter. Doesn’t rate McAndrew at all. He points out Robs hit to advantage but has no comment on Rob being an absolute liability in general play.

Ours according to this guy, but take ya point keays was a mischievous suggestion to drop to be fair as he had a good game, just with the 3 talls needs the 3 small forwards imo

To be fair. There are not many Rehns anymore who can ruck and play like a midfielder

It’s not what the club thinks about ROB, they dropped him last year and he didn’t finish top 10 of B&F

But most other ruckman are not next to useless once the ruck contest is over...

This should be a statement game for Nicks and Co - are we serious about improving as a side and competing, or are we happy just being around the mark?

There are clear weaknesses in our side that we should be able to address.

Rob - McAndrew; ROB cannot play after this match, must be omitted.

Laird - drop him for Butts or Murray, we cannot play Keane on Hogan or as our only KPD.

Milera - drop him, has flashes but doesn't do enough defensively or offensively, shift Dawson/Cummins to a HBF.

Laird (397) & Milera (367) are nowhere near attacking enough, Hinge had 490 metres gained, and more than both of them combined in the last quarter.

Crouch - if he's not 100%, drop him; if he IS 100%... consider dropping him anyway.

Sholl - omitted, not doing enough. Shift Curtin/Draper/Dawson to the wing.

As a rule, injury aside, Tex should be subbed in the third quarter every time.

We need a response from the weekend, I genuinely believe we can be a top 4 side this year - but not if we are soft at selection (and our coach sits there looking like a dickhead while we're getting taken apart).

The squad/talent we've got now is wasted on Nicks.

WE are soft at selection and Nicks sits there looking clueless while we're getting taken apart.
So --- NOT, then. :sadv1:

Ok let’s keep going with Rob then
