I was keen Darcy Gardiner at 21. Being a Geelong Falcons boy I saw him linked to Geelong's #16 pick in about 40% of phantom drafts. he seemed to be anywhere between 15-25 before ending up at 22 with Brisbane. 192cm 85kg mid size defender and AIS graduate.

Darcy Gardiner, Darcy Bryne-Jones, Darcy Hourigan and Darcy Cameron would have made an interesting draft for the media.

id prefer us rookie someone who actually might be good enough to make our AFL list rather than a sympathy vote. I know he was runner up in the magarey so perhaps he would be worth a shot. I didnt see enough magpies games to comment on him

If they are going to do that I would rather one of the younger players with x factor. Yeah they are unlikely to ever be better players than Gray but if it clicks they are capable of having an impact at AFL level. I dont visualise Gray having an impact at AFL level.

I am interested in a lot of players on the rookie list. I really like Charlie Cameron, Darcy Cameron and Cameron Conlon. I thought Battersby would be gone by 45. Jed Redden has a great profile for the rookie list. He fits our list needs and has a huge scope for development. I think our list is at a stage when we can use the rookie list to take a punt on speculative picks... but it looks like it will be used for depth.

Can't say I'm really keen on Battersby anymore TBH. We already drafted two small defenders, and he strikes me as more of an 'OK at everything, great at nothing' type Crowbot than a Port player. Speaking of which, he probably won't last until our pick anyway.

Of the passed over South Australians, I'd be keener on Hourigan than Battersby. Could be a total bust, but there's upside there and he'd fill a significant need if he comes on. I'd also like Dwayne Wilson.

it's a pity he fills a spot we just strengthened but i think he falls under the category of too good too pass up. some of his league games were pretty decent i think his debut was 16 touches and 6 clearances at 82% efficiency. he also had a 25 touches 5 clearances 1 goal 96% efficiency 3 contested mark game. he averaged 21 touches which is about what Aaron Young was getting. using a rookie pick on him, i would have no problems taking someone producing at league level already. he's the Colquhoun of this year. he played the same unaccountable role in the same team. and it is probably more against this guys way of going about, but i think they put him there because of his reading the play and kicking. if he's there i would be pretty disappointed in going for another unperformed player in a weak draft.

All 18 clubs would have at least 1 free spot on their list and probably 2. Last year only about 35 new rookies ie outside re-rookies, zone rookies and international/nsw scholarship rookies, were taken.

GWS have committed to Jed Lamb. At this stage you'd expect all other picks to be passed on and clubs to take an extra rookie selection.

Not really anyone I'd be interested in getting if we used our PSD over Amon. (Maybe Conlon but much rather he be a rookie). Plently of talent in the rookie draft but Port chose Amon over those other kids.
