Review Round 11, 2020 vs Richmond

Great game. Richmond is an excellent side with some injuries but we and the umps kept them in that game. We really should have won that game by at least 7 goals.

Hartlett just didn't look right, Leinert a fairly average game, Sutcliffe struggles with skill level, but tries.

Tim Watson on Ch7 news in Melbourne said he can't remember the last time he saw such a good game as the Port-Richmond game. The news presenter said it was just the game fans needed during the covid-19 crisis.

Port Adelaide - the club helping the nation through these difficult times.

"As your reward, Port Adelaide may wear the guernsey of their choosing at all future home showdowns."

This probably won't be popular but I've already seen more in Mitch's handful of games than in Todd's three plus seasons. If it was a choice between the two, it would be MG everyday of the week.

That said, both will be part of our best 22 once Westy retires.

Unless Marshall moves to a wing or something, with Westhoff out it would seem like we play Dixon, Ladhams, Todd OR Georgiades.

Unless we revert to one ruck only, which I would hope only happens if Ladhams or Lycett are injured or in terrible form, it does seem as those two are competing for one spot.

Was working during a lot of the game but saw the final qtr. Final qtr was

Wines was phenomenal, Boak, Ladhams, Butters, Gray and Jonas just beastly during the game.

When footy is played at a high standard it is an amazing game to watch.

The bigger issue is that there is such a lack of skill development along with expansion of the league (there simply should not be 18 clubs given the level of talent) means that too many rubbish players are getting paid to kick the Sherrin around who should be playing at a state level instead.

Watched a throwback of Port vs Brisbane from 2003 (the one when we won by a point at the Gabba) a few days ago and it was one of the best games I've ever seen. Players back then had such a better level of skill and could actually reliably hit targets by foot, unlike today's footy which is so much more reliant on winning the territory battle.

Admittedly port as an expansion club back then did have some draft concessions (and some players hidden from the draft for us) whilst Brisbane had extra salary cap, so in theory that that match up should have been elite. Like Gold Coast and GWS should be now if they held on to players and were coached well.

Butters, SPP and Rozee have the half forward line covered. Gray and woodcock type deeper small forward. Ebert is not in best 22 imo right now. But is a luxury with injuries

Ebert is better than woodcock at this point in time. Easy to get carried away with two ok performances from a new young kid and he certainly has a future, but right now Ebert should be ahead of him when fit.

He did a particularly dangerous one to Jack Hombsch at the SCG in 2014.

Play on. Sydney crumb. Franklin walked into an open goal.

Successfully argued unprecedentedly hard turf and not he was responsible for Matt Thomas getting KO’d, due to inconclusive footage.

It’s just Port, never mind.

The racists booing Goodes shitted me in (small) part, because then I couldn't boo him for being a player with an undeserved reputation for playing fairly when he repeatedly put other players in danger with cheap shots / pushes / slides in knees first.

And they have the audacity to whine about the free kick tally.

Screams of a team that isn't what they used to be trying to keep the new dog down.
