wins a win , we have a chance at a flag

people can s**t on it if they want, but great season so far

rowbottom, stephens, hayward stood out

Add Florent too, saved our arse in defence multiple times!

Hanners destroyed our midfield apart from Parker and Rowbottom. Kudos to him.

Pertinent to remember Saints drastically underperformed this year, we were definitely a bit off but managed to hold. Good prep for holding your nerve under pressure.

As much as it was a scrappy win, I still much prefer to have a proper hard slog win rather than a breeze in preparation for finals. Last year it was a 90 point thrashing in r23, then in finals we get spanked in the contest.

Having a win like that is frustrating, but grinding out a result like that can be good and gives us a wake up call of what type of contest and composure is expected in finals.

Got the win, double chance secured.

But this bloke, Hanners, always a Blood
Your performance in the 2012 Grand Final will never be forgotten

Also Paddy Ryder all the best to him.

Not our best effort, but eh at least we stabilised. Two really important goals from Hayward late saving our bacon.

Midfield other than Rowbottom needs work pronto. Hoping it was just an off-day.

Stephens's improvement as the season has gone on has been really impressive. Honestly think he's got the tools to be the best winger in the comp - he may not be the most skilled but * he runs and competes hard.

Happy for Hanners to have a big day. It's a shame your career ended like it did, but from the 2012 GF to the 2016 one you were one of our bests. I don't think it's entirely a coincidence that our midfield fell off a cliff after that injury. Enjoy retirement, mate.

When you have to win 7 games in a row just to finish top 4, we would be bound to play our C grade game one time such that is the nature of sports. Even though it was in danger, we stabilised. Hayward with 2 long banana kicks which is pretty high difficulty. Thank goodness he showed up today. Shoutout to Stephens and Rowy as well.

Rowbottom, Hayward brilliant, Heeney very good.

Warner didn't have the same impact with the tag but give him a chance and he'll torch the opposition.

Defence was a bit shaky at times when the Saints were winning clearances.

We match up well on Melbourne happy to take them at the MCG, can't complain about finishing 3rd two years after being bottom 4
