TheInjuryFactory I know the fumbler signing got all the attention but we also signed a furies legend called Wacky Tiger!

Ahh yes, those 12 whole posts this season have been telling.

Yes Wacky at his best is loved, but unfortunately the algorithm doesn't look terribly favourably at clubs picking up other club's inactive discards sadly. Old mate fumbler only rates a mention because of the controversy caused.

See 'Shadow Man to the Bears' for reference.

Well done on the analysis of the clubs TheInjuryFactory, you have obviously taken time to research each team and your thesis so far on each club has been sound and informative. My favorite serious media this season, subscribed.
Agreed - very good.

TiFmedia Power Rankings - 2nd Mt Buller Demons

#2 - Mt Buller Demons

Somewhat surprisingly for some no doubt, we find the Mt Buller Demons in a lofty 2nd place in the competition to commence the Season 36 TiFmedia Power Rankings. A pretty mean feat for the Season 35 wooden spooners, coming in off what was unequivocally their worst ever season from a whopping 35 seasons in the competition as a foundation club... in what would best be described as their annus horribilis, or 'horrible anus' in Latin.

It's been a steady decline for the Dees since their premiership win back in S31, as their record since has seen them register 12, 11, 8, 6 & all the way down to just a pair of victories last season from 16 starts. And yet despite all of that, they have somehow managed to maintain, and even build on, one of the strongest lists in the competition over that same period of downturn. Boasting the GM of Qooty and equal longest serving active club skipper manangatang is just the start, as they have seen two of their ranks inducted in the Hall of Fame in that time, as well as a further two Dees elevated to Immortal status, a mark of the calibre and undeniable starpower of their list.

So putting S35 behind them, the only way is up. The good news is they've already equalled half their win tally from last season in just the first month of Qooty to kick start Season 36, and even at their cellar dwelling worst the Dees remain one of the great powerhouses of the competition.

It must be said the Dees were anything but active during the off season, but when you've got a squad list of their ilk why on earth would you be?

Journeyman Callums_Guns leaves for what feels like the third time in as many seasons as he at first appeared to retire, then backflipped and ended up at the struggling Phoenix at the commencement of the season in a loss that they have covered several times in the past and look to have already done so with the smart recruitment of GD tour recruit Gralin. Add in a speculative pickup of Furies escapee Scythe94 aaaand that's pretty much where it starts and finishes as far as their off season recruitment drive is concerned.

But as we touched on, there's is easily one of the strongest and deepest squads in the comp, and they have maintained their rusted on core Dees for over 10 seasons and counting. Sporting no less than 5 active and engaged Hall of Famers (sausageroll, Headless, Tarkyn_24, DemonJim & Hate), three beez Trophy winners (Marlowe, manangatang & Headless), a Mobbs Medallist (cooney woo), three Fred Medal winners (Tarkyn_24, Proper Gander & DemonJim) and more than 50 All-SFA selections between them all, The Dees have more than enough strength across their squad to allow for a season of failure and still remain on top courtesy of their faultless brand.

mang has an embarrassment of riches at his disposal, and yet and still he manages them wisely, effortlessly keeps everyone on board and engaged and as an outsider one imagines he coolly and calmly wrangles his squad from season to season with little need for deal sweeteners or fear of enemy raiders given just how settled and united the Demons have been for as long as anyone can really remember.

Even just over the past handful of seasons, they've quietly acquired the services of legit superstars like Marlowe, Hate, Wosh , while courting up and comers like the recently exited Greenery & PMBangers, all just adding to that elite established core of players synonymous with Mt Buller.

What an absolute stinker. Not even Amber Heard has ever shat the bed as bad as these guys did in Season 35. Their worst ever win-loss result as a club that has lined up for every one of the last 35 seasons of the Sweet FA competition, and with significant daylight too. Their 2 win, 1 draw & 13 loss season the worst performance by any club in the history of the competition as the only club to ever register a 2 win season. Their run of 8 losses and just a solitary win from their first 9 games of the season had them out of finals contention by the halfway mark, and from there they kept on keeping on right to the end.

Sadly there wasn't much to hang their hat on individually either, as their best performer come awards season was Tarkyn_24 and his 10th placed finish in the Mobbs Medal, on par with teammate & first year find, cartwright. Their highest finisher in the Fred was part time Full Forward Wosh who managed 13th with a tally of 36 goals to finish on less than half of that of eventual winner gab213, a mark of the limited supply for forwards. Their mediocrity on field was punctuated by not one Demon earning All-SFA selection in S35, down from an impressive 4 selections just the season prior.

Still, Hate was rewarded for a fantastic career with his Immortal elevation, Wosh was recognised for an Amazonian effort behind the scenes with a Frankston Rover Award and the Dees once again featured heavily in the beez with no less than 5 players featuring in the top 50, including three inside the top 10 alone.

But winning on the field and individual accolades only account for so much in this competition when it comes to throwing ones' weight around and few clubs dominate the league psyche and broader landscape than the Dees, having quite possibly boasted the league's greatest squad over the past 10 seasons they are packed to the rafters with household names, heavy hitters and some of the league's most respected powerbrokers. Of course they would still find themselves on top of the heap despite a season to forget, and it can only get better from here for the folk from the Snow Dome.

An average of 360 combined posts in weekly match threads isn't enough for us to be 'notable', Gralin.

Better make it 3,600

Interesting how the #3 pick description employs shocked tones:

In what may come as a surprise to some, we find reigning Premiers the Ophidian Old Boys coming in at 3rd place in the Season 36 TiFmedia Power Rankings, having slid two places from the top of the heap at the end of Season 35.

while the #2 pick is "lofty."

Not questioning the algorithm TIF, just the language. 🤔

Well, I mean I imagine it's quite 'shocking' to some that the Premiers wouldn't be ranked #1, and that the wooden spooners would find themselves as high up the ranks as a 'lofty' 2nd place which is quite uplifting and inspirational given the circumstances.

Oh cool. We've got two Kens now.

I like it.

okeydoke7 once did a rankings thread rating the top 10 all-time greatest posters and put himself at Number 1.

If you don't rate yourself then who the hell will?

If the algorithm was working correctly, The Demons wouldn’t be in the Top 4 or even 6

The Power Rankings were supposed to be based on both on-field & off-field stuff

Eh, not shocked at all at OOB not occupying #1, of course "the algorithm" picked an obvious team for that slot. :D

It's good that Spotswood provides such rich engagement paths for the rest of the Sweet FA, we're nothing if not givers.

I also did a Club relevance rankings thread.

I counted up from 1, as the focus was on who the losing club was.

I ended the count at the second last team. The Gumbies didn’t get a write up or get mentioned at all, such was their irrelevance.

Got 'em, okey!

It was some of my best work.

Now hurry up and convince your club to trade for me. The Rats moving me to a pocket has done me.
We have 23 active posters this week, so could perhaps fit you into, say, a forward pocket?
