Where was the cheer-squad?

I have always stayed to the end as a personal choice, as I did Friday night, as I did in '92 losing to the same mob by 160. However if others want to leave it doesn't faze me in the least. Not sure why some have to have this continual hardcore line of "if you don't do it my way then you are not a real supporter".

Same as me. I always stay 'till the end, or with 2/3/4 mins left in the last quarter to beat the crowd.

I also do not have an issue with people leaving the ground early. I do not blame many for leaving the ground Friday night, it was just absolute garbage and was a training drill for the Hawks. Leaving early and avoiding traffic, minimising frustrations and getting onto the next phase of the night actually sounds smart in theory.

Posters should focus more about criticising the team and coaches on their performance, rather then the performance of our fans. It happens in every supporter base and it always will. Get over it and remember not everyone shares the same passion.

Where was the Cheer Squad indeed??
I was at the game and looked at how awesome looking the Hawthorn Cheer Squad was, and then looked across at the Essendon Cheer Squad and could barely notice them there.
No colour, no banners, no signs, no cheering (for good reason I know)
We have the most pathetic Cheer Squad going I reckon. Even watching other games on TV for other clubs and there seems to be so much more of a presence of other cheer squads (Richmond a good example), and we seem to be almost non existent.
What happened to our banners too? Again, Hawthorns' was awesome. Ours dull, smaller and lifeless.
There used to be a time when we would always out do the others, not anymore.
Eithad is meant to be OURS. It certainly didn't come across that way last weekend for many reasons.

Sorry if this is a stupid/obvious question.
But from my usual spot on level 2 i noticed that it was quite patchy around where the cheersquad would usually be, and they were not lively at all. In contrast to this, the Hawks' area was full. Now i know we are not travelling too well, but it was our home game.
Essendon cheer squad?
What a quaint idea.

I will always stay until the bitter end;
a) because I am a foolish, loyal bastard,
b) because I love the footy whether we are winning or not. Watching how Kav copes in his first game, watching Gumby to see his evolvement, and watching how certain players respond to adversity etc. And,
c) because having your soul wrenched of every last drop of satisfaction makes it all the more pleasurable when we win our next premiership. Endure the lows to enrich the highs n all that.

This is actually an important point. If you experience the adversity first hand, you appreciate the good times just that little bit more.

It's on a smaller scale obviously, but I was at both the final against Carlton last year, and the Round 4 game this year.

I reckon the experience of watching us getting hammered by those bastards last year just added to the satisfaction of turning the tables on them this year.

Absolutely. I was with people who wanted to leave the EF early, and I refused. The same people weren't interested in going to the Rd 4 game. Vindication.

Meh, I used to be of the same opinion but to be honest what is the point in staying if you're not really enjoying yourself.

I go to the football because I enjoy watching my team play good football. If they aren't going to try why should I bother to watch especially when I've got better things to do at home.

I hadn't left a game early for about 3 years and I've left early for the Saints, Cats and now Hawks games. I haven't regretted my decision at all.

I always stay to the end and while it can be difficult but there is another way of looking at it, I just sit back, accept the result and watch a team like Hawthorn or a few years ago just sat back and enjoyed watching Geelong at full flight.

Sure afterwards you feel gutted but at least I got to enjoy watching the best side in the comp.
