This is perhaps far from conclusive, but Shaw's role appears to have been very much 'outside' in the NEAFL:

Would understand bringing him in far more if he were an inside battering-ram type, who could take a pummeling. Perhaps a role change is on the cards for him at the Northern Blues.

Would rather have had Thomas Murphy who has some similar attributes and some future scope.

Never was up to it IMO. Didn't work hard enough both ways and simply wouldn't put his head over the ball. Panicked under any pressure. Basics needed for AFL football. The fact that we were happy to let him go and no one else wanted him for free says it all
