Do you indulge in bondage and discipline as well as sadism?
No. Cultural background is part Malaysian and grew up on stories of state sanctioned corporal punishment. There's too much an the touchy feely side and not enough Punitive.

Did you see the types I was looking at? It's in lieu of having capital punishment and may give some satisfaction for victims of crime. And I'm not expecting it to be frequent (Andrew Bayly levels of non rehabilitate and taxpayers wastage - cheaper to shoot the goose)

I did read what you said - including your own words "Willing for some innocents to be possibly sacrificed."

Which is what I was responding to.

I wonder whether you've ever been a victim of a serious crime. While I wouldn't profess to tell anyone how to feel, cos there are invariably exceptions to the norm - victims of crime (or their relatives) are rarely ever motivated by revenge. They're motivated by a sense of justice.

Your crazy suggestions of victims carrying out corporal punishment will only **** them up further, it'll turn them into potential criminals themselves, and it will give them no sense of justice.

Being punitive does not mean sacrificing the rule of law.

Bondage and discipline is definitely your go. Sadism or masochism will satisfy your punitive fetish, if it hasn't already. Have you always been a violent person?

I wouldn't force them to do it, but I wouldn't hold them back - I think recently there was a father who was restrained from attacking his son or daughters assailant - who had been found guilty. Maybe I'm Old Testament about the eye for an eye; and you are right that I've not been a victim myself beyond drug ****ed patients trying to take a swing at me.

So you think the current approach is dealing well with repeat violent offenders then?

Your suggestion was basically to allow the family of victims of certain crimes to have free, individual reign over the punishment of the criminal.
Sorry, I have worded it poorly. I meant it as a court sanctioned single opportunity where the judge deems the offence to the victim severe.

Many apologies to all if others read it the way you did - I understand where a lot of the negative response is coming from now.

That's still something that belongs in North Korea.

Who the hell votes according to how to vote cards?
As has been said not many in this thread , but a quick think would suggest with 5-6 options there are only so many ways you can put the opposite '' big '' party last :D

The Senate HTV may get more of a look in or people will vote informally

They went to the Greens in Jewish districts and Labor elsewhere. The impression I got was that most of them went to the Greens but say 20 or 30% of the cards said Liberals. I would expect greens to get most of the roughly 6% 'other' vote as well from animal rights, Hemp and marriage equality. Then say 70% of Danby's preferences is very gettable IMO.
Hope so
Danbys a waste of oxygen and a chair

The Coalition won't form government without the cross benches. That means they will need McGowan's vote at some point in time.

And with the dirty grubby campaign the Liberals ran against her in Indi, they may have cut off their nose to spite their face.

The way this Parliament is heading, Sophie's ten million for the Wangaratta Base Hospital will look like chicken shit compared to the pork that McGowan will bring to the electorate over the next three years.

Which means she will get to extract her pound of flesh from the Liberals over and over again when they continue to come calling.

Is it time to consider a maximum age to enter politics?
Hinch is apparently 70 and will sit as a Senator for 3/6 years. (Nothing against Hinch BTW).

i;d say the cut off should be retirement age, but with the direction that's headed, dead people could end up elected.
