Stewart, Menegola, Kelly and Abbott were mature agers that came into the club.
Of the rest, you would have to say that Blicavs is the only one that has progressed to a decent level.
Chris Scott has a poor track record developing junior players.
So what? Are you seriously suggesting that the two hours that Scott dedicates to doing an interview every Monday night is why no c*** could hit a target last Friday
My god Big Footy must have the highest concentration of psychologists and behavioural analysts on the planet
Head in the sand like usual. So what, Puopolo was too! He was a sanfl player.
Stewart played in the local competition for goodness sake - how does he not get. Abbott is a local player too and has been with the VFL squad for years.
i don't really see your point, because it's been made pretty poorly

Spose Dahlhouse and Rohan will paper over the cracks.
not the same as an interview
he's not worthy of the panel, he's not a good coach, he's similar to Serena Williams Geelong are in a bad place right now
Yep, Rohan and Dahlhouse would align with the Geelong trading strategy of bringing in talent over developing their own.I hope to Christ Rohan doesn't.
Head in the sand but ay

No.Yes because no other club does that.
none. And all achievements picked up with the addition of players who've been at other clubs are rendered invalid.
It's why Caddy's presence in last year's flag means it doesn't count.
Is that how this works?
Contend for what though? They aren't genuine premiership contenders, they were smashed in Week 1 this year after missing the top 4, and while they did make the prelim last year, they were absolutely smashed by the real contenders, Tigers and Crows beating them by 51 and 61. 2016 went down to Swans by 37 in PF and 2015 missed the finals. They will contend again next year and possibly push further if they get another forward and a top 10 ruck.
They are closer to very good than they are to average. Just need to get first use of the ball and the lack of defense in their midfield is a significantly less important factor.
Sure, they may not look well set for 5 years from now, though that becomes a problem in 2 years.
Thank god people in this thread don't hold meaningful jobs at football clubs (I assume)
Cats were well in the game last Thursday
No.
From the last three drafts we have developed Castagna, Butler, Rioli, Higgins, Short and Graham.
Five of those six played last week (Butler would have but was injured).
Broad and Lambert have also come into the side as mature agers.
Hardwick is great at developing the kids from juniors. How does Geelong compare?
This is not a serious opinion surely?
The only thing that kept Geelong within 5 goals was Melbourne's shocking decision making and missed opportunities. Mistakes happen when you are playing at warp speed.
Caddy, Grigg, Houli, Townsend, Nankervis, Prestia plus a bunch of priority draft picks due to being a perennial bottom 4 team for over a decade is a much better strategy, right?Yep, Rohan and Dahlhouse would align with the Geelong trading strategy of bringing in talent over developing their own.

Sydney, Hawthorn and Geelong surely rue the fact that instead of hoarding priority picks over the last 13 years they won 9 flags instead. Poorly run clubs.Mate honestly you'd get more sense out of an opium den. Look at the draft profile both sides have worked with and see if you can make a valid comparison. The only sides that are a valid comparison are Hawthorn and sydney - one of them is even as we speak in a remarkably similar situation to us having bowed out at an identical stage and the other is not that much better off.
Yeah Geelong seems to trade their top picks out for experienced talent. That I'm aware of, Scott had had one top 10 pick to develop in his entire coaching career - Cockatoo - and he has looked a quality player who simply can't get on the paddock.
The cats worked their way back into it- melbourne goalless second quarter. This is not a serious opinion surely?

You could say exactly the same the other way. Absolutely Melbourne made some bad errors. But for the majority of the second quarter we were pressing to undo the damage of the first - and an absolutely abhorrent sequence of mistakes meant that we only cut the margin by a goal or so rather than the 3-4 we needed.
The better team won, no mistake there, and they set up that victory in one quarter, but we were in the contest until Jones' goal in the last.

Hawkins kicks it.... 15 points.
