Similar contract to lycett, who got band 2. There’s obvious reason and also noise that crouch had clauses / non guaranteed amount in his contract as well.

It was always going to be close to band 2 and 3.

I’ve no doubt a big vic club would have had more pressure to get a band 2 result.

See Frawley and motlop compos (band 1 and band 2 for around 550k from memory)

I thought the talks of the non-guaranteed/clauses of the Crouch contract could take his salary over $700k/year, so a baseline of around $550-600k/year seems realistic.

The Motlop compensation was a crock of s*** to facilitate the Ablett trade. Rockliff was paid $150k more per year and got the same band. They do seem to have tightened the compensation up a bit more recently, there hasn't been any particularly controversial ones since the Motlop one in 2017.

Lycett is a good example, though he's a year younger which seems to make a big difference (apparently age and $/year are the biggest factors).

my biggest problem is the sheer manipulation the AFL can have with it all.
Motlop got Geelong a band 2 compensation, but we all know the compo was only given that high as it was going to the GC for ablett etc etc
But the problem with that is they get 19 for free to get Ablett and Geelong received 24 in the Ablett trade as well, which they used to get Tim Kelly which then turned into 3 first Round picks and 5 years later they have a premiership.

We get 27 which we will have problems turning into anyone remotely good enough to replace Amon and we will go down the ladder.

This is less to do with being Victorian and entirely on being a basket case, if Port Adelaide were bottom 4 for years and losing one of it's best and most important players i have no doubt the AFL would be more willing to bump it up, which is a huge issue.

why 19 for free as we only got pick 24 for Motlop which was on traded to the Suns

Get over it mate, this is the AFL, it's a corrupt to the rotten core organisation.

Daniher Band 1 compo for Essendon then his Brisbane contract is later "smoothed out" but all ticked off as ok, by the AFL

There is such a simple way to keep integrity with free agent compensation, and draft caps generally.

Make all salaries and contract lengths public information. Make the formula used for free agent compensation public information.

Otherwise, it reeks of dodgy deals happening all over the place. There is no integrity or accountability if decisions can be made in secret, and salary caps are not subject to scrutiny.

Pick 24 turned into Tim Kelly
The 2018 4th round was used in another trade but ended up in Ben Jarvis and Gary Rohan

So you got 19 for Motlop and swapped it for Ablett and the 4th - at the same time you get the upgrade of your 2nd Round pick to 24 and that's what you used for Kelly.

And 24 was not on-traded to the Suns you used it to get Kelly.

Gold Coast gave up Ablett, a Round 2 pick (24) and a 2018 Round 4 pick, while the Cats gave up an end of Round 1 pick (19) and a 2018 Round 2 pick.

Dodoro is elite, he knew exactly how to get the right outcome.

They don’t even have to give all the names of players, just a list of all salaries. If you move as a free agent then their salary becomes public and everyone knows what the compensation will be.
FA’s are old and should be mature enough to be able to cope with that being made public.

you do have a point as a crow supporter.

compare the Patrick Dangerfield trade when he went from Crows to Geelong then compare that to Tim Kelly going from cats to west coast.

Patrick Dangerfield Trade: It was just Pick 50 and Dangerfield, Pick 9, 28 and Dean Gore. Crows Traded pick 28 and Sam Kerridge for Troy Menzel. Pick 9 was pushed back to pick 11 and that was Wayne Milera.

Crows could of accpeted just a 1st round compo pick, which would of been pick 13, which was mainly because where they finished on the ladder, in the top 8 and semi final exit. But said no.

Tim Kelly Trade: Future 3rd round pick and Tim Kelly. Eagles coughed up Pick 14, Pick 24, Pick 33 and Eagles 2020 1st round pick.
