Is this commonly referred to as 'Whataboutism'?

And not like Carlton supporters to reference a small data set when forming conclusions.

After all, they are apparently the best team in the competition on the back of three wins (albeit against bottom four teams).
And collingwoods win has come against the same bottom four team !

Much better than starting the season with 3 losses.

Carlton fans will say this then proclaim that they deserve the round one opener (+ any other game given to them without reason see: Good Friday and whatever the * Kings Birthday Eve is) despite obtaining 2 wooden spoons and 1 prelim appearance since the games inception 16 years ago.
Surprised they aren't demanding Good Friday and Easter Monday

If Curnow played in the ruck Joel selwoods all time free kick tally would be eclipsed within a season.
It's amazing how many Pie supporters don't know the rules.

Carlton supporters with the lid off in March. Now, if you had already won the Premiership in 2024 then by all means post away. But just imagine the salt if you don't snag it. Can't wait. :$

The thread title is which side will be better in 2024.

It isn’t “are Carlton certainties to win the flag in 2024”.

Nice moving of the goalposts though, you must rate us pretty highly if you think winning the flag is baseline for us and if we don’t you will lol.

This Carlton side reminds me of the 2012 team.
Equal top after round 5.
Premiership favourites after round 3.

Will they fall off a cliff like they did in 2012 and miss the 8?

If you’re Carlton, a Premiership has to now be the expectation, which is an odd situation given their past few seasons.

Does their playing group genuinely believe they can win a flag though?

They’re 2023 finals series was a bit of a throw of the dice with no expectations beforehand. They got through to a prelim with a fair bit of luck combined with some genuine fight and grit.

I believe internally they’ll soon start to feel the external premiership pressure start to conflict with their genuine uncertainty of how far they can really go.

How they handle it is going to be intriguing.

So this thread is going from what is happening to what you hope will happen.

As I’ve said you must be pretty scared of us and rate is really highly if you think if we don’t win a flag we have failed, based just off winning our first 3 games.

So you can't frame a basic market on a collingwood v Carlton game coming up in round 8 based on your math that Carlton have a 15% chance of winning the game ? Cop out
For the record , if both sides are at full strength I have Collingwood at around $2.05 and Carlton at $1.85
If Collingwood have a 15% chance to win then the return should be approximately 7-1 so about $7 and Carlton would be about $1.16 (assume a market with no margin ie a even game is $2 each, not $1.90 each)

Edit sorry misread the post re who had the 15% chance, flip the team names around thanks

The probabilities were the other way around, but finally we have someone who understands basic probability.

Unsurprisingly, it's not a Carlton supporter.

Cope. If you're happy just winning more games but not the flag then that's fine by me.

Curnow has become the "you can't touch him" protected species of this era. When I think of the mauling Cloke and Rocca used to get it's laughable to see the free ride given to Curnow. He kicked most of his goals against us from tiggy touch wood frees last year too.

He's a class act and a big boy capable of winning his own footy- so cut the crap umpires.
Sheesh what an alarming post.

Charlie has 5 free kicks all season so far. Cant help but think this is just a hate post because you wish Charlie played for your own team.

Even Brody Mihocek has 1 more free kick but lets not let facts get in the way of good sook so carry on.

if Curnow got the free kicks Cox does he'd kick 100 goals this year!
Charlie received 39 free kicks in 2023, of the top50 goal kickers only one other player received more than 30...Harry with 32.

If a guy like TomaHawk was umpired the same way Charlie is, he would kick 100 every year.

Yeah well if you illegally restrict his run to compete for a ball or hold his arms so he cant put them up in the air to compete what do you expect?? This is what happens when under sized defenders play on him.

Hawkins highest return ever was 68 goals, in a season where he got 25 frees for himself... Something not adding up there... Been borrowing Fudgeys faulty abacus?

It's simple isn't it, Pie supporters can't seem to grasp it.
