Dev gave it a shot and some will admire it but in reality he ****ed up.

He decided to stay on with Brissy and will find himself looking for a new club when he is delisted.

He would have played every game with us, more coin and would likely have another 5/6 years in the system. Oh well good luck to him.
Desisted either this or next
Ashcroft, fletcher rayner mccluggage neale......

He isn’t cover because he’s never bloody available though. He’s one of these guys whose body, and probably ability but mainly his body, won’t allow him to play AFL.
Fair, but hes still better than forcing Hough to play on Curnow, and HEdwards isnt injured right now(suspended instead). If Gov wasnt 31 with an injury history and Barrass didnt have a messed up back id be more comfortable dumping him.
If we got Buss, or some other KPD who can play next year id be more ok with it

Question.

Oliver Florrent - 25 and UFA. Can play half back and on ball. Two positions we need to improve our depth.

IF he was interested would $700k pa be a ridiculous offer?

Not will he be interested. What would be reasonable if he was.

Some varying views on this on the main draft board so looking for other opinions.

Remember new CBA and increased cap next year. 2023 the average AFL wage was $441k.

Dev always knew he was rated between 22 and 28. A fringe / depth player.

And after clubs play 23 rounds what is likely to have happened? Injuries.

What club has its top 23 players available 100% of the time? And more importantly in September.

Its a brutal sport and Dev will be counting on injuries to snag a finals spot and potentially a flag. He also would back himself to improve. There was no wrong decision either way with Dev last season IMO. Both options had appeal.

It ruined our entire draft strategy, that’s why we’re so angry

Did it?

Probably kept Trew on the list but not sure what else we would have done different

Might have missed out on Hall without the F3 we probably would’ve had to use to trade up to get him. Or we might have traded the pick we used to draft Hall and not had him on our list at all

Yes.

It contributed toward an increased desire to trade down pick 1 for multiple picks, instead of taking Reid

Your post reads like copium tbh

Believe Travaglia is one of the higher rated rebounding defenders with skills. One to watch.

Hotton one of the more promising wingers.
Spot on. He’s just been added to academy squad because of his early season form and as Phil said, would be in the mix for our 2R or a R1 pick split. Huge area of need for us. Hotton also just added to the academy and would probably be close to leading the Morrish medal at the moment but again as Phil said disposal needs tidying up as poor kicking is not something we can really afford to be drafting. Will check out the game this weekend with considerable interest.
Tobie's best attributes are:
1. his contested marking;
2. his elite endurance; and
3. his speed.

Things he needs to work on:
1. his goal kicking and generally hurting on the scoreboard;
2. his contested game (and keeping his feet); and
3. his accountability (he is often too keen to take the game on and can be punished the other way).

For what it's worth Tobie is often also the centre of things within the playing group and he is always up for a good time (but less outspoken in the huddles then players such as Dayten Uerata or Archer Day-Wicks).

Obviously won Bendigo's B&F as an underager last year as well.
The below picture is him outmarking Jack Whitlock who stands at 200cm.

Talk of splitting and dev went for ages, before dev decided to stay.

find it hard to believe that dev coming meant that it was ok to be suicidal.

I'm glad that Dev stayed in Brisbane, if he had come to Perth we would have missed out on mercurial Clay.
Looking forward to seeing what Clay can do when he gets his turn but would have also loved to have traded down to Freijah and kept our F3. We might have even had someone else’s F3.

We 100% changed our draft strategy, seems we went the 'try and trade our future first' route instead.

We tried to trade our F1 to get Curtin because we missed out on Robertson?

That makes no sense

Fail to see what we might have done substantially different had Robertson agreed to come other than our draft hand would have been missing a later pick or two. We also might have forced a harder bargain with Hawthorn

Would we throw our top 4 pick at the dogs for JUH? Pretty sure he's still unsigned and we could afford him.
Hell yeah. Taking JUH, Buss and English off the Dogs for our first 2 picks would set us up very well in the key posts, the dogs wouldnt be overstocked with elite KPPs anymore too, win-win.
The Dogs wouldnt take it thought id imagine

Is JUH that good tho?
I think the team that ends up with him will be paying top dollar and might regret it
He'll be OK but not sure he'll be nearly as good as predicted

Can anyone give me any info on Bailey Banfield chopped it up at colts level last week 27 touches. Did he miss out on being drafted last year or what's the story?
