In reality though, is Sonsie likely to make us drastically better? Probably not. He, Dow, Ross and McAuliffe are of a similar standard. Hopper and Taranto are working hard but give us grunt without burst and that is what we lack.
Sonsie might be a good mid in 2030 or he might not. I can guarantee Hopper and TT won't be. Several times today opponents either shrugged off TT tackles or easily accelerated away from him. He needs to be moved to half-forward it's such an obvious move.

We can't keep saying "it's okay to lose because we're playing kids like Lalor and Campbell' when Lalor and Campbell are the reasons we're in the game at all given how badly our midfield is performing.

Couple of things about this play though, the bounce of the ball did him the dirty, automatically wrong footed him and he becomes an easy target to get pushed off the ball as he had to try and slow down to pick it up.
Wardlaw however to his credit, positioned his body perfectly and done very well.

At a crucial moment in the game, his effort was nowhere near good enough. That’s the bottom line.

Yeah but that easy chest mark that bounced off his chest !!

Needed him to hold that and kick the goal
He is a first year player they all make a few mistakes, if you can’t see the benefits of giving him games, especially when he is bringing the ball to ground each week, tells me your footy knowledge is pretty poor. I probably should of known that from your continuous take on Harley Reid

When we say we want him to bring the ball to ground, the ball bouncing off his chest isn’t what we had in mind!

Go and watch - cost us two goals with pathetic efforts in the last quarter

I think there's enough credits in the bank to give him a pass over a couple of costly errors.

You seem quick to forget how important he was in our win over Gold Coast.

Seth Campbell is amazing.
3.2 and could’ve had 4 if a bit more composed with 15d is the type of stats we’ve been crying for out of our smalls for a long time.

He’s linking up the ground is something that’s excelled so much in 25.

Lalor stands up in the big moments and chips in with a few goals and 16.
I’d say over the course of the year he’s doing better than I originally expected considering he’s soft tissue injuries pre draft and general conditioning.
Agree re Seth…He’s in All-Aus calcs and has added about a zero to his next contract…He wants to be a Tiger - and not a Tasmanian one - so let’s get that locked away…
Lalor looks like a 150-gamer…
And as Tigs has said earlier in the year, is already our best player by the length of the Flemington straight…Not even joking…How is that after 10 games…?

Man you have some unrealistic expectations

Even when we were winning flags our best players ****ed up all the time and cost us goals or missed sitters

Shit happens

Sometimes things don’t go the way we want, the main thing is overall our squad is trending upwards and the players have brought in to the rebuild

Kids are getting better, 2nd stringers are showing they can be long term players and our older players are all playing good footy despite the odd **** up

A lot to be happy about as a tigers fan right now imo

I’ll tell you what’s embarrassing, it’s all the dumb ****s on here who can’t work out why we were unable to score more than 74 points against one of the worst teams in the competition

We finished on bottom last year and lost at least 8 best 22 players from our side and we have replaced them with kids and most weeks we have had a fair crack young players and older players who should be on the decline.

Your expectations for a rebuilding side are ridiculous and thank god your probably some old nuffie that thinks we should win every week and not involved at the club

theyll go with mrj for dreamtime

u watch
No chance surely
Sonsie another massive performance in the VFL
36 possessions
26 kicks
10 handballs
3 marks
7 tackles
10 clearances

He is just way too good for VFL level but gets played as a flanker at AFL
Need to start giving this kid some midfield time to aleast show what he can do

Blight , Sonsie are the only players in contention for a game next week

* Judson Clarke played a pretty good game also with
18 possessions and a goal which was a beauty late in the last quarter but probably needs another 2 games at VFL to get to speed of the game
13 kicks
5 handballs
5 marks
2 tackles
He does need more time but could be an upgrade on Steely who looks spent

You’re missing the point. Week-in, week-out, this board is full of platitudes about how any loss, and there have been plenty of those, is full of merit because we’re inexperienced but time and again it’s our experienced players who are disappointing. We’re in this kind of no-man’s land - simultaneously a million miles away from a flag, yet without any real depth in our young talent and nothing resembling a game plan.

We were more experienced in the centre where we got demolished 4 - 14 clearances.

The question is simple: how does Sonsie with 36 disposals and 10 clearances not break into demonstrably the worst midfield in the comp which is full of players past their prime given we're supposedly at the start of a rebuild?
The MC will have Sonsie in next week but playing half forward again while both Taranto and Hopper will be in the centre trying to keep up with the Bombers midfielders. Why can’t we just give Sonsie one game as a starting midfielder which is his natural position. Are they afraid he might succeed and then they will have to de-list Short at the end of the year
