Lance Franklin
Lance Franklin is a giant of the game. The star Sydney Swans forward has played 300 AFL games, won two premierships with Hawthorn, is the seventh-greatest goal-kicker in VFL/AFL history, is one of just five men with eight All Australian blazers and is the most recent player to have kicked 100 goals in a season. The Western Australian is also one of just two players in the game’s history, along with former Swan and Saint Tony Lockett, to have booted 300 goals for two clubs. Franklin was added to a leadership group for the first time in his career ahead of season 2020, joining co-captains Josh Kennedy, Luke Parker and Dane Rampe, as well as Callum Mills. But the 33-year-old, who was named captain of the 2018 All Australian team, has long been considered an exceptional unofficial leader, so great is his impact on Will Hayward, Nick Blakey, Ben Ronke and the rest of Sydney’s young forwards.

Lance Franklin
DOB: 30 January 1987
DEBUT: 2005
DRAFT: #5, 2004 National Draft
RECRUITED FROM: Dowerin (WA)/Perth (WAFL)/Hawthorn

With jpk rotten luck I think that will solidify It for buddy.

Go out on his terms and still a very good footballer.

For the rest of time buddy I'll be known as one of if not the best forward of all time and going out as a 50 goal a season player. Still good enough to destroy opponents at 36

Yer definitely only one soft tissue injury away from wiping out his season like in 2020

I don't think Buddy retires
He either signs a one year deal with us, and at this stage it looks as if he isn't happy with what is offered
or
He signs a one or 2 year deal with GC or Brissie

After 18 years would he really be bothered changing clubs at 36, learning a new style, new game plan plus put up with the media and added pressure of delivering at a new club?

Of all the things that could happen I’d think Buddy signing a two-year contract anywhere must be the least likely. No way any club would entertain that.

Two years at 250k/Pa maybe lol

If our budget is really s**t we could offer him 150k /y over 5 years, we rarely operate with the full list anyway lol

Does the AFL have rules against paying a player that has no intent to play? Like going full Ken Griffey Jr who will still be getting paid yearly until the 2030s despite not playing baseball since the mid 00s

Great analysis of the Swans defence by David King on First Crack tonight.

Clearly showed how our structure is all about freeing up Paddy to intercept mark, even if it means a small defender is temporarily on an opposition tall.

We also play strictly goal-side across the ground.

Fascinating analysis if you get a chance to see it.
Thanks watched it back, good analysis. The part I liked was the players Joey brought up that average more goals than Buddy this season: charlie curnow, tom lynch, charlie cameron, tom hawkins and taylor walker. And key forwards who have averaged more score involvements: hawkins, walker, jeremy cameron, curnow. All of those players are on 750k-1m+ a season. Yet found myself getting laughed at in the Buddy thread suggesting he's worth more than 500k, because of his age or whatever. Like excuse me? Look at the numbers he's putting up at his "age". Joey Montagna was asked by King how much he would give Buddy as the list manager and he said Buddy's definitely worth 600k. That is the absolute minimum he is worth, I'd be giving him 700 but the people who reckon he's worth 500k are out of their damn skulls.

I’ve gone on record here saying he’s worth 700k but for one season. I still stand by that.
