ZACH MERRETT – 200 GAMES

Essendon’s Captain Zach Merrett will play his 200th AFL game this Saturday against Geelong. Growing up in Cobden in regional Victoria, Merrett was drafted by the Bombers in 2013 National Draft with Pick No.26.

At only 27-years-old, the midfielder has quite the resume, with three Crichton Medals and two All Australian selections to his name.

In his first year as the Bombers’ Captain, Merrett has excelled, averaging 29.3 disposals, 16.2 kicks and 5.3 tackles.

mate, Geelong are a team struggling to make finals too, so

You've had a terrific year. Probably exceeded expectations to be honest.
Cats been spluttering along and as crap as they have played, still in the eight.

These are games we must win against teams who are unrealistic premiership contenders. Bombers in 2025 will be beating us on a regular basis but not at the minute.

Merrets 200th and only half a stadium full so many Essendon fans will miss out

This game should be moved to the MCG and all the gate tickets go to Geelong
Tell someone who cares. Cats get 9 home games - I repeat 9. We aren't going to give one of those 9 games away because Merrett is playing his 200th. FMD how many milestone games have been played away?

Toss of the coin job it seems, but cats at home and have a good winning record against the dons . Bombers speed through the middle could be a concern. Tough gig for both teams!
Come Saturday night it will be 10,922 days since the Bombers last played for premiership points in Geelong against Geelong

Don't you guys play out of that soulless roofed abomination? Essendon lads will be in for a treat Sat night.

Essendon have a 1-6 record against sides currently in the top 8.

Geelong have a 3-2 record against sides currently in the top 8.

The Bombers have had a good season and the Cats a haphazard one, but my suspicion is Geelong's ceiling is higher. Regardless, the home ground advantage should seal it.

It's all sold out mate, but I'm sure the four Essendon fans that did manage to get seats will have a great time.

Hi Caro.

P.S. Your fans don't matter. Not your home game.

* I hate the silver spooned elite Melbourne power clubs. Thinking their bloated fanbases gives them a god given right to avoid certain away trips as if those fans are meant to matter. You don't.
