And we need to keep the pressure on so that they continue with the lost narrative. I would not give them a nanometer if soace.

Trial by media has become totally out of control. You can be hung drawn and quartered just on hearsay, a photo or a video taken out of context. Whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty. If there is undisputable proof that this young man has done the wrong thing then do the crime do the time but if it is a case of he say, she says, and nothing else then the way this whole thing was handled is a case of wanting 15 minutes of fame and the media needing a headline and story to fill there news bulletin. To run to the media and put someone in the poo is pathetic and vindictive. SPP has done the wrong thing by team rules and has been punished, whatever else he has allegedly done should be proven beyond doubt by the correct authorities including the police if it was as first claimed sexual assault. I am getting so sick of the AFL and the way it goes on.

The AFL lives in a strange world where they think they are more powerful than they really are.

I'm curious as to who devised the PR "strategy" on this and on that other recent high level issue.

When the AFL chose to find Essendon guilty of "bringing the game into disrepute" to gain a relatively fast "conviction" over "medical reporting issues", giving the appearance of penalties shared by all, they left a needle sized hole that player representation tried and failed to thread with WADA.

All reporting was instantly "Drug Cheats Punished" of course, well before WADA finally spoke. It's hard not to believe the AFL were OK to an extent with a decent period of public pillorying to give a superficial impression that players had been punished "enough". Bad publicity or no, the longer WADA dragged, the more players neared retirement. If the AFL gave a rats about players' immediate mental welfare they barely showed it in the rush to control the longer narrative "Give it a few years, the rest will be retired and the club rehabilitated," said the members of Star Chamber 2014-2015.

This time around a player, possibly without representation, has been "found guilty" of an offence against another code of conduct, his reputation hung out to dry permanently by media and social media by a "breach of code" being conflated with a similarly named serious criminal offence. "No you can't see the record of deliberations, your club can't see the evidence considered, sign here or the public shaming will continue" says the Star Chamber of 2018.

Except that it won't ever stop, as you should have learned from your experience mismanaging the fallout of the actual scandal at Essendon.

This is not just about a group taking stuff they didn't know, that amounted to cheating, failed by leaders who should've asked more, failed by officials who turned a blind eye to detail and protocol. This is about allowing one young man to be permanently tarred with the brush of a serious criminal offence that he's not even been questioned over by Police, apparently so that the AFL can maintain appearances. This is about a young woman who claims a young man did something stupid and offensive having that allegation stripped out of her control to be rewritten, re-framed by a voracious media and by an AFL Star Chamber dreaming of their powers. The sleep of reason has brought forth monsters, and these people haven't woken up yet.

I have no idea where this will end but Kochie finally drawing a line in the sand over the seeming failure of due process in this matter, and getting angry over the consequences, gives me some hope for all concerned. Except for Channel 7. They won't get sued, and tensions will surely turn to targeting.

Yeah thanks for that.

Here is the "Star Chamber" clause, which appears significantly at the bottom of p13, just before the Protocol Diagram that it effectively overrides:

"The AFL Head of Integrity can take action at its own initiative where it believes there has been conduct that breaches the terms of the R and R policy and where there is an absence of a complaint."
So, once again, AFL integrity unit, why wasn’t the AFLW GWS player sanctioned in some way for the same behaviour which SPP is being accused of?

Two very good friends of mine studied journalism at Magill quite a few years ago, both very bright. One was the top of his class there, the other not far off, he took the uni entry test for medicine once just to see how he’d go. Passed comfortably.
Anyway, upon completion of their journalism degrees they both watched on as the “better looking” in the class walked into plum local jobs at the ABC, 7, 9, and 10, while one of my fiends had to settle for a job at a country Messenger Newspaper, the other now lays carpets for a living and has a bung knee.
Naive not to expect anything less though. Unless you’re an ex-sports person, looks will always trump ability in front of the camera. It’s like the #metoo crowd of good looking actresses now complaining of directors / writers wanting them to get their gear off, when there’d be dozens of more talented actresses they’ve landed roles ahead of, due to said looks.

People want to look at good looking people. It’s human nature. Outside the rare shows that do have the hosts needing some intelligence, that’s not going to change anytime soon. Just the likes of Elspeth needs to be called out that she wouldn’t have gotten anywhere in TV if she wasn’t pleasant on the eyes (at least until she starts speaking and it’s fingers down a chalkboard).

AFLW is already going backwards fast (take out the artificial boost of people wanting to see the new WA stadium and crowds were down significantly). They can’t have Gil’s shiny new toy in the press for the wrong reasons, so it was sweep furiously.

The AFL isn’t going to be impacted as a league by hanging out an indigenous youth for sexual harassment. AFL gets to look good, and people can get on board and abuse Sam, allowing them to get in some low level racism, whilst also looking like they are on the side of right. It’s mana from heaven to a large number of knuckle draggers.

She is a reporter first and foremost. If being their MC or ambassador conflicts with that then she shouldn’t do it. Kym Dillion is a w***er but he knocks back his ambassadorship from them because he works in the media and understands it’s a conflict of interest.
Do the rest..... come on m8 this Karpakistan

Elspeth has the appearance of a blonde angel and SPP the appearance of a demon. Add in a few inflammatory headlines to guide the viewer’s thinking. Such a perfect juxtaposition for the 7 news agenda don’t you think?

So they believe the AFL integrity unit is beyond reproach.. what a joke.. state AFL will make a statement today.
Watch Port lose out here. I just hope the AFLPA go after Hussey and Seven with all they have but I realise that Seven is a gossip tabloid organisation that will get away with lies and innuendo.
At least they can get back to the big issues like the best laundry powder and "shopping trollys the hidden death trap "

With power comes responsibility.

Still, if the action implies that SPP is guilty of an offence when he clearly is not, then I hope we really really sue.

SPP just needs to be more selective who he boogies with at Hindley Street nightspots...

Kochie has indicated that they have the full vision of events that night.
It is a 2 way street.
Have they supplied that tape to the AFL?
It seems that should have been done ages ago if this was to cleared up quickly.

How can the AFL come to a conclusion without seeing the tape? aka 2 way street.

If they have the tape that Kochie says exonerates SPP and they still find against him then we DO have a problem with the AFL.
But if they have not had access to the tape and did not know it existed then WE have a communication issue which has drawn the issue out

I cant see us withholding the tape.

What this about? Kochie isn’t saying he and the club are holding footage the AFL integrity unit hasn’t seen. He’s saying the club has seen all of the footage that’s available so unless the AFLintegrity unit has some extra evidence that we haven’t seen then sort this s**t out now.

It was a reply to the previous post.
