interesting Agar has been opening. Wonder if they've just been doing it for the intra squad games due to the lack of personnel or if they might use him as a pinch hitter in an actual game

I hope not. His hitting ability in T20 has always been overrated a bit IMO.

Looks like Mitch Marsh is slated to bat at 3, which has shunted Phillipe down the order. I’m also not a fan of only picking two frontline seamers. All the best franchise teams have stacked bowling and don’t rely on all-rounders or part timers. Looks like we’re going away from that.

The old debate. Bits & pieces players vs specialists...

if the pitches are supposed to replicate conditions in the UAE, would we still play 3 quicks?

Cricket.com.au's article suggested this would be the final team

Australia XI (possible): Aaron Finch (c), Matthew Wade (wk), Mitch Marsh, Ben McDermott, Josh Philippe, Moises Henriques, Dan Christian, Ashton Agar, Mitchell Starc, Adam Zampa, Josh Hazlewood/Mitchell Swepson

Personally, I don't think we should be going in 3 spinners and one quick. Marsh, Christian and Henriques will have to combine for four overs. It looks like we are still cramming top order players into the top 6, Philippe should be at three. I rate McDermott but if he's gonna be batting at 5 I'd rather Carey every day of the week. Hard to know what the make up of our World Cup team will look like with so many outs.

Zampa, Agar and 3 quicks is the right structure for mine. If your top 6 don't score the runs then you are not winning many games of T20 anyway.

Mitch Marsh would be our best option at #6. He can hit early and finish hard. Using him in the top order is dumb when we have too many top order bats and not enough middle order bats and finishers.

This joker can't even get a game with Windies umpires only and we had to cop him in the ashes FFS
