Well considering we all play under the watchful eyes of umpires, they then vote for the best players on the field.

Having said that, the top in the league best and fairest is your answer!

Is this the same fellow who played for Sth Melbourne?
It is the same bloke who played for Sth Melbourne back in the day Get Over It.

As for blokes leaving Ormond to go to Hampton, I doubt that very much considering the rivalry/dislike both teams have for each other. It's more off-field Ormond people that will leave to go with Matt. i.e. his brother David as assistant coach/match committee.

both his brothers still play don't they gunny?

it takes alot for players to change clubs so i don't expect many would move. i reckon it was a good move appointing oaten as he's coached most of your youngies and that will act as a discouragement for them changing clubs. to rovers or wherever.

I was only taking the piss, my lovely wife is a proud MacRob old girl. SKC I believe is the top performing Private school in Victoria but we wont get into a silly debate. Play on lads!

you're almost becoming affable briza. you see what being out of the clutches of snarly red cardio does for you. i'm even inclined to look more kindly on skobs. nah, that won't happen.:D

Nice to be here on these boards. How long will the poster 'Cardio Carl' not be able to post on here?
Im a keen follower of all things VAFA so hope to post here and there and add some sensible banter to all.

....wrong spot to post then...
:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

I believe Ugly Dermie is well respected, are we to not believe him Bedford?

well respected or not, my point being - just stick with your club. I couldnt imagine ever playing for anyone else - let alone a club in the same comp. I dont get it. Fair enough Robbins going to coach (I am assuming the league will be all over the stat decs) but your club is your club.....

over a frothy last night we were discussing the ammos playing coach rule. i reckoned that if you play one game you forfeit your fee, other than out of pocket expenses. others reckoned that it's a graduated thing depending on how many games are played. anyone know?

So everyone who now joins Big Footy is according to you Cardio Carl?
I couldn't write so much crap on a forum as he does so NO, I aint him.
As far as the Coach rule goes, its simple, you can only be paid $1500 a year for allowances and thats it, play as much as you want. Some clubs have rumored to get it wrong and added an extra 0 to the wage.
As they say, "have a nice day!".

no only those we suspect;) thanks for the playing coach info.

bit of pumping up your own tyres, huh. there's another newbie called 'letterman' who sent me an abusive p.m. reckon he's from the same camp. sad really.

Only the ones that we suspect and you've got his (Cardio Carl's) crappy writing style all over your posts. And you referred to him in your first post.... I dunno, I could be wrong but I reckon after a while of biting your tongue we'll hear the same crap out of you as we did from Cardio Carl. Your name raises some suspicion too.

I heard something around the traps that there was a $5000 limit or something for a player-coach. I don't see how that really makes much sense so i doubt that but that's what i heard. My view is that the player-coach should be able to be paid as much as they want (or at least something in the $10-15,000 mark). This would attract a few "marquee" players back to the ammos and i think could be a good option. Could also give some district clubs a chance considering school boy clubs offer jobs at their schools, put children through school and straight out pay players. Anyway, food for thought....

Marto3, a bit narrow minded suggesting that clubs are offering jobs at their schools. Do you really think a well respected private school would employ a teacher who wasnt upto the mark as a teacher just to help out their old boys footy club. Ask most of the Presidents of Old Boys Clubs and ask them how they go with their dealings with their respective school. Most would say its not easy as the school is their focus, not the old boys footy club. Also - would like you to enlighten us as to which players have their kids going through the school in return for them to play football. You seem to have your finger on the pulse so please let us know.

you got me! the jigs up! your forensic investigative skills have found me out. what can i say.:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

b.t.w you also managed to completely misconstrue the post of mine on which you launched your harangue. i was on your side. suppose we all have bad days.

thanks for your input on the player payment issue.

to all. i'm still confused [not hard for me:p] as i thought the deal was that a club could pay a limited number of players out-of-pocket expenses to a maximum sum, which i thought was $2000. with vafa approval of course.

i've had a quick gander at the rules on the vafa website and i'm none the wiser. i'm assuming that if a coach plays any games his fee [if it's outside those guidelines] is forfeited.

sorry for the crappy writing marto.;)

Just wondering, how much money do player/coaches get in the country comps (ie Bendigo) for coaching the club as opposed to here in the metro comps like the VAFA or the EFL?

So Tony Brown's leaving Sandy East PS to go and teach Haileybury was just pure coincidence that it happens at the same time of him going to play for Haileybury. (He may have actually played one year first but you going to say that his employment had nothing to do with playing for the old boys?)
I totally understand that the argument of getting people jobs and putting people through school is exaggerated and it comes about from a lot of here say. But you can't deny that they happen.
Just out of interest, what school do Stewart Lowe's kids go to?

There are plenty of them. And to be honest, it really doesn't bother me. You gotta do what you can to get an advantage over the opposition. Was just simply saying that i reckon having no limit on a player-coach could work out well.

It wasn't directed at you....??? I'm not accusing you of being anyone. Don't quite understand that post.
