Carlton were in Perth in the same conditions and a day less to prepare.Little bit worried we'll be sluggish after the wet weather game.
Not sure we can rely on the fast finish this week.

He dodged and baulked around a couple of Carlton players before slotting it then did the aeroplane celebration which was pretty impressive with his wingspanThat was one of my favourite times at the football ever. The North players were just toying with Carlton, flicking the ball around to give Spider a goal.

Love you Taz but I can guarantee Owies won’t kick 3!
Stephens?? He would be close to top 5 in bnf esp last 8 weeks. Crucial to structure as two way runner. Wont be dropped this year. Maybe ever if he keeps at the level.Zurhaar should take the spell, we need him to play the season out.
Agree.

If no curnow, no forward structure. Tjey will struggle. We need to torch them.If one was going by the consensus in the Blues supporters thread alone, you’d expect we’re gonna blow them away.
I haven’t watched a Carlton game for more than a month. How bad are they really? Enough to drop a checks notes 82 point precedent?
Tbh that game felt like the "perfect storm". Our players were lazy, defence was unsettled, opposition were under incredible amounts of scrutiny in the media. Why can we draw against Brisbane but not beat, or at least get close to, Carlton's level?Carlton beat us by 82 points on Good Friday, which was only two months ago.
Not exactly certain why anyone would go into this game "expecting" a win.

Maley’s set shot looks like a dog’s breakfast, we all know. However, his completion rate is not that bad, as far as I can see. He either kicks a goal or doesn’t make the distance. If North stick to the forward press style of game which they have adapted to quite well then why not play Maley as the congested forward 50 better suits a leaping forward rather than a Larkey type who needs space to be effective.
Of course Marley’s kicking issues can’t be easily mitigated. Handball off to McKercher instead of a set shot?
We may need that get out of jail target on the wing who can take a mark, given we got locked in our D50 last time.If North stick to the forward press style of game which they have adapted to quite well then why not play Maley as the congested forward 50 better suits a leaping forward rather than a Larkey type who needs space to be effective.

He has a red hot dip though, if he just works himself into a frenzy pre-game, he makes others walk taller. He can have 5 tackles, 5 bumps a game. That's all I want from him. Halve contests in the air or on the ground. Doesn't need to kick it once if McKercher is instructed to receive every handpass.Maley’s set shot looks like a dog’s breakfast, we all know. I’d agree except that even with the high number of F50 tackles we only kicked 10 goals which won’t win many games. I’m suggesting more of a tweak but yeah I wouldn’t want Maley Larkey and Darling playing I50 at the same time necessarily. We may need that get out of jail target on the wing who can take a mark, given we got locked in our D50 last time.
But we also had a very high number of F50 tackles, so not sure they'd want to change that forward mix.
Only bloke to be able to reach the fence on both sides of the ground at the same time ..... that's what I told my mate at the timeHe dodged and baulked around a couple of Carlton players before slotting it then did the aeroplane celebration which was pretty impressive with his wingspan
Curnow with early onset old mans calf! Love itSo McKay confirmed out and Curnow still a test it seems

surly phillips would bring more as a small forward then fisher
Will Dawson might be an option. Could ruck and play either end. I hope we don't rush Comben in too early.I’d agree except that even with the high number of F50 tackles we only kicked 10 goals which won’t win many games. Fair enough. We have won like 10 games in the last 6 seasons of footy. They beat us by 82 points not even 60 days ago. Excuse me for not being as bullish as you.Bollocks.
We should be expecting to win. Haven't 5 of our last 6 games all been decided by under 10 points? Freo and Lions are all better than Blues and we could/should have beaten both of them.
I expect us to win or go close trying.
