Changes for the showdown?

i think ure forgetting that chad is argueably the best utility in the league
he can play midfield (which he will when chaplin comes back) he can play wing, he can play loose man and he can play forward

and what about adelaides forward line?
Carlile- Burton
Chaplin- Tippet
Thurstans - Porpzy
if they play walker then well need another tall
if they play scott stevens well need another tall

Carlile - Tippet
Thurstans - Walker/Sellar
Chaplin - Stevens
P. Stewart - Burton
Surjan - Porplyzia
If they go another tall, we can send Chad into defense. We should matchup well on their forwards.

I hope Salter stays though. IF we have a tall forward line of Tredders, Westhoff, Salter, Lade in there all at once like we did last showdown, then their defense will be exploited.

I don't know if Port would match up like that, some of those match ups we would be exposed :)

Stewart on Burton
Carlisle on Tippet
Chappy on Porp
Chad on Walker or Stevens
Sujan on McLeod

May be better match ups I reckon

Thurstans on the bench perhaps. Chad has had little influence in the midfield for quite some time and our midfield set up this week was the best it's been inawhile.

Chad at CHF maybe.

Thurstans - Walker/Sellar

Oh god no. Walker will absolutely kill Tobes on the lead. But if Sellar stays in, then they could probably draft me in to keep him goalless, so I'm sure Toby will do fine.

Porplyzia has a corked knee, it will be handy if he's not available.

Only change for us i reckon will be Chaplin for Lower.

How about we give guys like Lower 4 to 5 weeks in the senoirs to see if they are good enough instead of in one week and out the next. Give these guys a fair go. Carr has had more than one opportunity and hasnt delivered all year.

What a stupid thing to say. Massive double standard. Carr's had two very good games and a few other decent ones (the first thing that two separate people on two separate occasions who I hadn't seen all week that I saw at the footy said today was 'I don't know why Carr keeps getting dropped). Lower's had one decent game (today) and three terrible games. If Carr can be dropped after one average game after a very good one, why can't Lower be dropped after one average game after 3 terrible games?

My prediction for how we might line up this week:

FF Ebert, J Westhoff, Salter

HF Gray, Tredrea, Pearce

C Davenport, K Cornes, Salopek

HB C Cornes, Chaplin, Stewart

FB Surjan, Thurstans, Carlile

RUCK
Brogan
Cassisi
Rodan

INT Lade, Krakouer, Boak, Broadbent

really?

I thought our defense is actually better with him in it, and that he's been playing great since returning.

Agree, Thurstans adds much needed structure to our defence and allows players like Chad and Chappy to zone off and be creative.

Now who's being stupid.

Lower was very good against Freo, particularly in the second half and was good for the first half against Geelong. I'd have him in this side for the near-term and longer-term ahead of Carr.

I think minimum changes will be made barring injury... so with that in mind i would be looking at

IN : Chaplin,
Out : Thurstans, Westhoff (concussion)

At least another week in the sanfl : Burgoyne, Carr, Thomas, Logan

No doubt chocolate will have a few changes in mind though.. heres what i predict he will do

IN : Carr, Hartlett, Thomas, Pettigrew & Chaplin
Outs from Stewart, Lower, Broadbent

Went to the Aftermatch Presentation after the game, really enjoyed it.

Mark was praising the likes of Broadbent, Salter and Davenport so I cant imagine any of them being dropped after that game.

Mark also mentioned that this week, Shaun, Hamish, Thomas and Chappy are all available this week, though I would like Shaun, Thomas and Hamish to have at least one run in the SANFL.

Out: Lower
In: Chaplin

Going to be a great game imo.

The thing you keep missing gopower is that Carr is over 30, won't be playing next year, and isn't part of our next premiership.

Lower might or might not be, but we need to find out, hence the perceived double standard...

I wasn't very impressed with Pearce's game on the weekend. Even as an outside player his efforts were poor.

Firstly, Carr will be playing next year. Choco has already said that he's contracted for next year and has a guaranteed spot on the list next year, so unless you're suggesting he's planning to keep a 30 year old in the SANFL all year Josh will still be a part of our team for at least one more year. As for the 'part of our next premiership' point, I would say Lower won't be part of our next premiership team either. If we need someone like him in the side, a good honest trier but nothing else, we probably won't be premiership contenders.

I remember him being worst on ground. I'm not the only poster to have said that either.

If Matt Thomas is fit he must come in for the Showdown.
Matt Thomas was rested from SANFL on the weekend because he pulled up really sore after training on Wednesday. Doubt they will throw him straight into a Showdown.

I thought that review was harsh, his second half was ave to abv ave, first half was very ordinary.

I have to admit I though Carr was only on a one year deal.

Put it this way - we know almost for certain Carr wont be part of our next flag, and whilst I tend to agree that I doubt Lower will be either, he still deserves more of a chance to prove his wares than Josh.

AFL football is a harsh world once you're over 30.

Toby's been quite solid when not being our answer to Titus Bramble, but ffs, how many talls do we need?

Don't particularly want to see Chaplin on Porplyzia cheers very much and Lower's hardness and grunt through the guts will make up for the absence of Thomas (another week in the SNAFFLE) and Carr (permadockercactus).

Probably not but there's a definate psychological advantage with Thommo playing.

I like your match ups although I prefer to see Chad in Thurstans position. I don't think the crows can afford to play Stevens up front with the number of talls in our forward line.

2 changes for me.

In: Chaplin, Carr
Out: Thurstans, Lower (both unlucky)

I would make 2 changes
