The difference being is that no one is talking us up as being a contender.

My point is they target the kids to hurt them. Happens every time we play them. Filthy, dirty scraggers that lot.Want McAsey and Jones to enjoy their games for awhile, especially Fish after the barrage he went through in his 10 games last year. Most of those kids are just not ready and yes I have been watching the SANFL games.

Not sure what changes we can make with this mauling we have coming up

Hopefully Sloane iis ready to come in to show some heart in the midfield with Keays

Get rid of Himmelberg, simply not good enough, may as well bring Fog in and see if he can show any semblance of being an AFL player up forward, Riley can ruck for the 10 minutes ROB is resting

Good luck fixing the absolute mess we have with our small/medium forwards

Thought Keays and Murphy were the two that genuinely tried. Keays our best quite comfortably.

Hate to say it, but that diabolical circumstance last week with Lynch as sub has just pin pricked any sort of feeling we are genuinely having a crack this season and the team played like that today. One of the weakest, softest performances I’ve seen.

McAdam and Rowe are shot. Absolutely done. They can’t be picked next week. Himmelberg was awful. So disappointing, I thought he had what it takes, but that was a scrap heap performance from him today. McHenry is worth persisting with, give him a go on ball. Murphy I can’t fault, plays his role. Walker is back to the usual crap he’s displayed for 3 years. His opponent, Taylor, is a very good player. So it’s Frampton in for Himmelberg, Fogarty for McAdam and Jones for Rowe.

The midfield clearly needs experience, of which is injured. Maybe they need to rotate more players through there. Use McHenry, Murphy, Jones etc. Try Doedee? Sholl is a talent, but his lack of applying any sort of pressure was exposed today. I put McPherson in a similar boat. Both have the talent to be part of the next push towards a premiership, but both just cruise too often.

Again, the back line is so inexperienced. Butts has lost confidence. Murray is inexperienced. Doedee is a 3rd tall/intercept only type player. Smith is the only that provides run.

What can be done?

The next lot of new players need to be introduced/reintroduced. Worrell, McAsey, Jones, O’Connor and even Newchurch.

My team vs Port:

F: Jones Thilthorpe Newchurch
HF: Fogarty Walker Murphy
C: McHenry Keays Seedsman
HB: Sholl O’Brien Smith
B: Mackay McAsey Kelly
R: Frampton Doedee Laird
I: O’Connor Schoenberg Worrell Hately
Sub: Murray

In: Jones, Newchurch, Fogarty, McAsey, Frampton, O’Connor, Worrell
Out: Rowe, Himmelberg, McAdam, McPherson, Butts, Berry, Murray (sub)
Drop Butts? Are you ****ing serious?

Worrell in and Doedee into Centre. Macpherson dropped

If McAsey rips it up maybe he comes in for Berg

Rowe should go for Newchurch
McAdam should go for Fog

Hately...he is hoping that I'Connor doesn't have a ripper in the SANFL.

If Jones does well I'm not sure but you would consider

Thing is, he doesn't look to get involved, he wants others to get him the pill. Bit like McAdam really.... And leaving the defending to Berry, Murphy and Neddy

I do agree, I have paid very very close attention to him as I have been beating on him to score goals in particular at Adelaide Oval given his record.

He gets into great position for goals, but youre right, he doesnt defend hard as a forward.

Tough to judge our whole forward line at the moment when we're getting smoked in the middle and our forays forward are very messy

They all looked poor today

Our problems start and finish in the midfield.

Tex and our other forwards looked incredibly dangerous at the start of the season when the ball was coming in fast and low.

Similarly, our backline looked like 6 All Australians when our mids where applying elite pressure on the opposition.

We need Horne and another classy mid asap.

Sloane coming back will help. But not enough.

Still think Horne is out of reach. If we finish below North they'll take picks from us.

Matt Roberts from South might be the one.

We can argue about players till the cows come home but we have a very average list
This!
In general, need more Ben Keays types for effort and consistency.

Crows need players who can run both ways, with clean hands, can mark, kick accurately, prepared to defend/tackle and do 1%ers. Not many of our current list do all of those. In fact, that excludes several.
No millionaire speccy-grabbers, fancy look-away handballers, dinky-kick floppers.
Just solid, reliable footy players who love to play, love their team/mates, never-say-die.

If McAdam is not kicking goals he offers nothing.

Has had one game this year over 10 possessions. Has no impact up the ground.

5 of 7 games 1 tackle or less.

He will be 26 next month. Is he really part of our next push?

His career will be a cameo, like Nick Gill.

I think it might be worth playing him higher up the ground where he might be able to get more involved..cant hurt to have a look. Jones maybe in as a back pocket as i thought he looked ok in defense and does have a good accurate kick on him.

Worrell simply has to come in..been unlucky. Could davis come in to play a defensive forward role on Alir Alir. Sloane also in if he is right

Forget newchurch..he just is not close to being ready yet. Mcasey also should get a crack at it.

Raffle the outs

Honestly we picked Jones 9. If he has anything we need to see. David McKay looked very good today but will he be in our team in 5 years time i dont think thats likley

There are four guys who played against GWS that CANNOT play next week under any circumstances

Rowe - if he's not kicking goals he offers us absolutely nothing
McAdam - either injured or out of form. Pick one
McPherson - at the point with a young player where you can't play a month of woeful football and expect to keep your spot
Himmelberg - 200cm players that can't mark are not and never will be AFL standard

On top of that there are a range of players that are also in the firing line

Murray - based on what I've seen at the lower level this guy simply is not better than other players that can't get a game
Mackay - I don't care how well he plays, this is a rebuilding year and this guy is not the future
Hately - underwhelming, ideally this guy gets a block of 4-6 games at AFL level though
Kelly - is firmly in classic "not our worst, not our best" territory week after week and we have to find a way to play McAsey and Worrell

So anywhere from 4-8 unforced changes would be decent

How long are Brown & Hamill expected to be out? Are either (or both) expected to return next week?

If the weather is going to be bad for the Showdown, then I think we'll drop Himmelberg and replace him with Sloane. They showed a willingness to use TT in the ruck today, we don't need a 3rd tall if the weather is going to be wet, and I think there's more value in playing TT than Berg at this point. Himmelberg got to lots of good places today - but his concrete hands negated all of the good work he did with his positioning. It's already evident that TT is the greater talent, so his development should be prioritised.

If Brown or Hamill are available, then Mackay will go straight back out of the team (and probably into the sub vest). Mackay played well against GWS, and was one of our better players, but this year he is only being selected on a "break glass in emergency" basis, and we'll no longer be at emergency stations with our small defenders if at least one of Brown/Hamill is available. If both are available, then McPherson should probably be sent packing.

I would really like to drop both Rowe & McAdam, but I don't think Newchurch is ready - and I don't see any other options in the SANFL at this stage. Fogarty is not the answer as replacement for our failing small forwards, and with bad weather forecast his chances of replacing Himmelberg aren't great either. Rowe & McAdam are living on borrowed time, but there don't appear to be any replacements on the immediate horizon.

Summary:
OUT: Himmelberg
IN: Sloane

OUT: Mackay, McPherson
IN: Brown, Hamill

All changes are subject to the incoming players passing their fitness tests.

You try telling Dmac he wont be in the side in 5 years.

What's the chances he gets another year? I'd say he is likely to be going around again in 2022.
