Hey guys sorry to intrude and I know this isn't the dream team thread so I'm be sorry! I currently have Thompson in my fantasy elite side. I heard that Sanderson said they'll keep playing Thompson even though he is injured. If he continues to play, what kind of averages are expected? Close to 100?

Funny that some of the posters who bagged the selectors all season regarding Lyons now think he would be an ideal sub candidate. Maybe the selectors do know a little more about their players than you (i.e. obviously they have always known about his fitness issues)? What a shock!

I've read a fair bit of this thread, who has suggested Lyons should be sub?

unless you really need the trade, i would personally get rid of him. He's our beloved war horse, true champion, but I fear he's finally breaking down. Expect to see him with a light workload if he does play out the season.

mind you, he did rack up 72 dt points and 55 sc points in the half he did play against geelong, so he might hit back and finish the year strong like the gun that he is.

Yeah fantasy elite is a draft league where u choose your own players with picks, I got him in the free agent pool last week and noticed he still has an average of 94. Also noticed he managed a 72 in 3 quarters which is none the less still impressive.

i'd take thommo over kerr any day if i was managing a club

but kerr at his best with judd and cousins (or as i call them, the dog ass crowbeating shit clowns for jerks) was better than thompson. Thompson has been a consistent champion, but we were really terrified of kerr and his good time buddies in the 05/06 days (or as I call them... well, you know).

I'm not sure of how your league scores disposal efficiency.
His main trouble is his opponent getting off the leash with him not going both ways, he still racks up possession and does all the things that don't require much movement but his disposal which was already not great, it's lost it's effectiveness a bit more this all might not show up on the stat sheet, if you could switch in whoever he's got playing on him each week you'd be having a blinder. Whoever Adelaide don't tag tends to get 40 possessions while thommo is out there. If you check the player rater he's slowing dropping down.
But this type of game against freo would suit him if he plays. After the freo game you might have to look week by week. His last game vs freo he had 10 clearances.
If you don't have Michael Barlow you might look to get him in there.
Personally I wouldn't play him but that's sandos call, he is doing damage carrying it. The bloke is fit as they come though, his parts just aren't working with him.

While I have Scott in my Elite DT, there is a lot of mid options usually (depending on your squad sizes). I've just been burnt (picked up Zaha the week before his injury) you could easily replace.

Not really -whilst the team would want him, we've proven we can beat the best without him so Im tipping he'll be back come showdown.

I think Thommo might miss for Kerridge.
Id lose Tambling for Shaw if he's ready.

Other changes for the Freo game (puts tongue in cheek) is not to be wasteful going inside 50 like we were last time against Freo...and we should beat 'em.

Think we need to something different as we can't afford our defence to be too top-heavy as Freo love playing the fast break with an open forward line. We need to have a quick defence/wings to counteract this.

Neither Rutten or Talia are suited to Mayne, who is an important player for their structure - I think Otten is the go, as he can play like a defensive midfielder.

That leaves either Rutten or Talia for the resting ruckman, which means either the other plays forward (instead of Otten) or they are rested (if they have a niggle). I would be tempted to play 1 as a key position forward & Smack in the other (giving JJ a rest) to give us a better rucking option. Lynch to keep playing the lead up forward.

I think your first point is spot on. To cover that we will set up as we did last week with Brown, Laird, Hendo and Bling. This will leave Otten forward and possibly doing a number on Johnson.

Would love to see LJ get a run but don't think he will.

I'm all for LJ getting a run ( if for no other reason than he was my tip in the big improver thread ).

Just seems a structural issue more than anything. Against Freo we went small in defence due to match ups which freed Otten to play a tag on Taylor. I think it might work that way again this week with Otten to take Johnson.

This squeezes out LJ from a fwd spot as they are unlikely to play all of Lynch , Otten and Johnson.

We didn't have many.
That's definitely our weakness. The goalkickers are thin on the ground without Pav, but the midfield should play better this week.
Don't think they'll have two bad games in a row.
They were shizen last week.

I always felt had we had Pav in 05 and 06 we could have won a flag which leads me to think, what a waste of a talent he has been for Freo. To think his best years were wasted is a shame. I blame Ayres going for Carey instead of Pav.
