Happy with the faith shown in the kids. Jack, you owe Sando an apology.

My only concern is the lack of a small crumbing forward. I would have replaced Porps with Callinan.

Good changes

However, I still don't and have never seen the need to pick a squad of 25 players.

Why not just come out and say, these are our in's and they are out outs and these 3 guys are out emergencies. It's only 24 hours, they are not going to trick anyone but they still feel the need to be all secret about it. It's pointless.
Jenkins had a fitness test today so obviously there were still doubts with the squad. Of all the things to worry out naming a squad isn't one of them.

So glad Lyons stays in but think Jaensch unlucky as still think make good forward and could still do if Porps doesnt find some form.

Agree - thinks Jaensch deserves a run forward, but if we're trying to improve our side, players are going to get dropped.

When we start dropping players who don't completely deserve it, then you know we're getting serious about winning a Flag.

Another day that the AFL can get media coverage? No doubt the 22 would have been picked yesterday.

That does chance anything.

If Jenkins fails a fitness test tomorrow or Sunday, then make a change with the 3 emergencies. That's not hard.

Exactly, so tell us.

The AFL and AFL clubs **** around with this game so much, one day - all the supporters will get so jacked off by it, they will leave.

Yep i don't agree with MJ being dropped but its a very good sign.

To Elite Crow I never said he was picked as a marking forward. He came in as a small forward who knows how to lead and kick goals. In a forward line devoid of goalkickers - we needed his ability to kick goals.

Peter J - I never said we picked him because he has pace. We picked him because he is a small forward with experience (and our only proven forward available). Here is a question for you - if the ball goes to ground who do you want around the contest? Between Porps / LJ / Smack / Lynch / JJ give me Porps any day of the week.

My original point is that I was happy with Porps selection for the Hawthorn game because he was our only proven forward left. I used the comparison of last years forward line to the forward line we had going in against Hawthorn:

2012 Forward Line:
Resting Mid / Tippett / Callinan
Petrenko / Walker / Porps

2013 Forward Line:
Resting Mid / JJ / Lynch
Resting Mid / Smack / Porps

We brought Porps in because if we didn't our forward line would consist of 4 Tall forwards (with a wealth of 59 games between the 4 of them) and 2 resting midfielders. So for the Hawks game we should have had LJ / JJ / Lynch / Smack playing up forward? I maintain that forward line is way too tall and slow.

Lets be real here.... The selections were pretty straight forward from the Carlton game to the Hawks game.

Out Laird - In Lyons
Out Walker - In SMACK - Direct Replacement
Out Pets - In Porps. - Direct Replacement
A forward who leads, marks and kicks goals isn't a marking forward? o_O

Your analysis misses one player Kerridge playing as the defensive forward, so he's taken over Pets role. They might not play it the same way but we aren't going to have two defensive forwards.

Cant wait to see how VB goes. I'm a bit worried.

On the plus side he was one of our better mids (amongst a generally woeful group) when he went out and seemed to be one of the few players that had a good comprehension of our game plan. Also, he's normally very fit and does heaps of one percenters, gets back to help out the defence and absolutely busts his gut.

That said, if the theory about us being so poor cos of the lack of match fitness due to the preseasons of the senior players is true, then it may be a big risk bringing him straight back as he will be one of the least match fit players we have.

Don't want to apologise for your pathetic half cocked posts last night Kingy?

Aren't there no SANFL games this week? Probably better to give him a game against GWS than sit on the sidelines for a week and then deciding again if he's good to go. Reckon he'll be fine.

Want to retract that statement? A lot of posters on here made complete idiot of themselves last night, BEFORE final teams were out. Hardly surprising on this board though.

Not at all - I posted saying how highly rated Lyons should be, in response to people saying he wasn't, or shouldn't be.

I'm glad Sando has vindicated my views ;)

Not at all. I've criticised Sando for not doing what he's doing this week, and now that he is starting to do it, I'm somehow wrong?
