Changes v Port Power est 1997

That's such simplistic thinking. Coaches give votes to only 5 players, including opposition players. CEY could have out-voted Greenwood in every other game and be comfortably ahead. Hell, the 1 vote that Hugh has might have been from the opposing coaching group. Really sloppy work there.
I agree that a 1-0 vote tally, across 7 games, doesn't say much. That said, I expect Greenwood to receive more votes when the AFLCA voting is announced today. CEY may scrape in for 5th best, or he may not.

There is also a third option, which is leave Knight out.
I think that's an unlikely option. Possible, but unlikely.

I think they see Knight as being a regular member of our best 22, something that Gallucci has not yet achieved, and which CEY is unlikely to ever achieve.

I think Knight was rested (managed) last week, so that he would be cherry ripe for the Showdown. That being the case, I think his selection is a foregone conclusion.

Yeah, no.

Greenwood has many more tools then CEY and is currently out performing CEY in the main facets we need performance in (contested disposals/defensive work).

CEY for the most part is just a big bodied, slow inside midfielder. Greenwood at least isn't slow.

I agree, I think the praise that is getting heaped on CEY is unwarranted.

Big, slow, zero hurt factor and zero x factor. People trying to talk up "this he's only played 20 games" angle are kidding themselves, he's 25 and played close to 100 SANFL games, essentially we're seeing all there is to offer with CEY.

He's depth at best, if he's in our best 22 then we have some real issues with our midfield.

Hartigan has done two hammies in about his last 10 matches. Would think he'd need to come back via the SANFL and put a few games together.

I think he'll come back via the SANFL, but his form has been fine, so I doubt he'll need to do anything other than get a bit of touch and prove his fitness.
I do agree, I dont think a Showdown is the game for another tall to be aware of their hamstrings. SANFL 1 game and then in the week after

So is Sloane, B Crouch, M Crouch and Greenwood, but they’re all clear best 22 players, and we proved last year that we’re fine in selecting that mix.

CEY is currently doing an excellent job of holding down Brad’s spot and is a certainty to stay in.

As for the talk on this board of Atkins potentially being dropped over Gallucci, that quite simply isn’t happening.

Assuming no further injuries take place between now and Thursday (not a hugely safe assumption atm lol), AND Tex and Sloane are both passed fit, there are only 2 possibilities for selection.

1)
Out: Fogarty, Milera, Gallucci
In: Tex, Knight, Sloane

Or

2)
Out: Fogarty, Milera
In: Tex, Sloane

If an another injury does occur, that injured player going out likely gives Gallucci a reprieve, unless the player is a KPP, in which case Fogarty gets a reprieve, or if it’s Jacobs with an injury, O’Brien comes in.
Both our back up Ruckman are injured, Dear finished the game as the main ruckman on Sat went OK 21 taps a few effective by the eye.

Walker for Fog.
Sloane for Gallucci. (Dougie to the pocket and Sloane in Dougies midfield spot)
Knight for Milera.

My preference would be Seed to Milera's half back spot, Sloane to Seeds wing, Knight to the forward pocket and Dougie stays midfield but can't see it happening.

Don't why we are Talking about Knight coming back into the side this week,
Tex and Sloane yes they are 5 players, Knight may be best 25 but Pyke rarely changes a winning team if not forced to,
Tex and Sloane being two of our best players general force a change, but Knight does not have that currency at this time.

Hmmmm I think I agree, looking at his stats there's not much more improvement to come. Currently for AFC he ranks

#1 for centre clearances
# 2 for total clearances
#2 for tackles
#2 for contested possessions
# 4 for total possessions.

He's only 4 behind Gibbs in clearances so he could improve to no1 there.

Also just 4 tackles behind Greenwood so a chance for no1 there too.

Not going to catch Laird on possessions :p

So yeah, not much else to offer, other than maybe pushing to no1 in 4 out of 5 key midfielder statistics.

I'd prefer we play our players in roles that makes us the most powerful team that we can be. CEY covers Sloane's inside work, Sloane becomes a massive upgrade on the outside player that he squeezes out. It's pretty simple.
Yep CEY and Greenwood give us flexibility now , time to give Sloane some different roles starting with half back this week

Disagree, Knight comes into the side when fit. He was only managed last week due to having stuff all pre-season and playing 2 massive games against Sydney and GC, he will come in for Milera, guarantee it.

We have also seen that life without Sloane is far from a dire situation......

Why would we shift quite possibly our best performing player this year out of the position that he's performing fantastically in?

Two answers the first more prevalent to the reason I doubt he will play.
Will Pykey make the change, will he do something he has not done in the past. to a winning team.

2nd Answer do you believe Knights 2 games, were they good enough to warrant an automatic recall in a team that won by 50 points.

Out: Milera(inj), Galluici (ommited), Fogarty (ommited)
In: Tex, Sloane, Knight

B: Kelly ----------- Talia ---------Brown

CHB: D-Mac---------- Otten----------- Laird

M: Seed-----------Sloane ---------Atkins

CHF: Douglas------Walker----------Lynch

F: Betts---------Jenkins---------McGov

Followers: Sauce---M.Crouch---Gibbs

Interchange: Greenwood, Yoleman, Doedee, Knight

I feel it is important we bring knight back in over keeping galluici in. Port will be bringing Rockliff and SPP back in, and after their average display against west coast they will likely be hard at it early. Knight is a hard nut, his tackling and pressure will be needed.

1 - Milera is injured so the change won't be unforced
2 - Yes, they were. Didn't do much stats wise against Sydney but his pace, pressure and physicality from the first bounce was invaluable and his game against GC netted 2 goals off 17 disposals whilst he covered a game high 15.6km's.

If we played Port last week, Knight would have played. Instead we recognised he was tired and sore, he'd just put in two huge efforts coming off very little pre-season and 1 sanfl game so we took the chance to rest him against a soft kill and get him cherry ripe for the showdown. Knight will be in this week barring a training injury, I absolutely guarantee it.

the question will be Will Pyke then make 3 changes,
Because Tex and Sloane are the first players recalled all day every day. Knight would be the 3rd player. Pyke will not do that.

And yes he chased a lot in that game against Gold coast. he was also 2nd to the ball a few times, in both games but I write that down to finding his feet again.
Is He playing his best football at this time.
To me the selection committee will have a long discussion and then play Sloane and Walker. Unless of course, another player cops an injury.
