Would be thrilled to see Atley get a game...long overdue. Kid will be jet!

Otherwise, another opportunity to address our deficiencies while there's still enough time left to save the season has been wasted. Our issue last week was clearly our forward line, the midfield and defence generally played well and controlled the game... so we bring in a defender and two midfielders!

I'll be damned if I can't get this square peg into this round hole!!

Listening to Voss on AA after team selection my impression was Atley will only play if Hartlett doesn't come up.

Drew is no chance. Maybe he will be travelling emergency. And really he would be very lucky to be picked. Bonner would be a better and more realistic option.

So probably only one change.
This club is going places lol

The forwardline issue can't continue to be ignored. More I50s than points scored against Richmond and Eddy and Howard are in form.

We're sick of waiting. There's no good reason for this farce to continue.
Wait until we are in danger of missing finals, then with Ken in panic mode anything is possible. Players overlooked most/all year
will be expected to dominate to save his job.

Who? Boak? He's finished and doesn't play inside anymore. Wines and SPP are our insiders but we consistently get smashed in this area and if you want to compare our mids to Geelongs of 2007 you're having a laugh.

You're melting about the wrong thing.

Wines 190cm 97kg
SPP 187cm 91kg
Ebert 188cm 89kg

And we've just brought in Atley who is another strong inside type.

We're first in average contested possessions differential vs our opponents, 4th in clearances, 1st in inside 50s.

The midfield is fine. Really good even.

The problem is that our forward line turns us into a tyrannosaurus in a boxing match against anything bigger than a medium sized triceratops

Exactly, as posted earlier more I50s against the tigers then points scored - that is nothing short of disgraceful !

Lol if we make only one change, and it's a forced one - I'm not sure I'll even care at this point.

Start the advent calendar to "Ken Hinkley Sacked" day. Behind each sliding advent calendar door is a stupid hinkley decision or an opportunity lost across the journey.

Yep...our defence is excellent as well. We're so close to being a great team with just a few adjustments that could be easily made. Such a waste...

It's heartwarming to see so much anger in a changes thread again. Last week and against Essendon I recall there was almost satisfaction with selection night. The melting greatly improves our chance of winning IMO.

From tonight I'm really hoping to see Atley; I'm amongst the many with high hopes that he will be another gem.

So we're now genuinely staring down the barrel of a Hombsch in for Neade/Impey/Pittard/Houston style single change.

After that ****ing game against Richmond where we had 67 inside 50s for 63 points.

If we're really lucky, we'll get to see Atley debut so we've got something to get excited about.

I don't even feel like watching this shit anymore. Sack the goddamn coach.

starting to accept, like last year the only way well see guys get rewarded is if we get alot of injuries. Sad to say that injuries (albeit to the right players) will actually result in us fielding a better side !

Ken's being pretty pig headed on the Trengove fwd, Westhoff wing thing. For mine Westy goes back to being 3rd fwd. Eddy comes in and Jacko goes back. It's a clear structural change we need to look at yet he seems incredibly reluctant not to push this hobby horse until it completely breaks.

I can understand stability, but at the same time you've got to be able to react quickly, firmly and clearly when the crystal clear signs are there for all to see, that the move isn't working.

The big concern for me however will be if Atley doesn't get a game. The kid deserves it. Get him in there, he's our future, he is ready and he's earned it. There's legitimately no reason for him not to be picked now.

I think he sees no point in changing up the AFL's #2 attack and #1 defence just to appease the fans.

True, would love to know where we sit on the F50 efficiency stat, entries V scores.

To me though it's just like our contested ball issues he failed to acknowledge for 2 years, when it was glaring and I was banging on about it weekly. Now we've adjusted and we're right back up the top in that area.

Our problem is the forward line, a key defender comes back in, maybe a mid for a hbf under injury cloud.
meh

This is such a basic thing to say. Number 1 defence and number 2 attack, yet we are mid-table and can't beat any quality sides, with a few despicable losses to boot.

No problems, premiership bound.

Jackson Trengove has taken one (1) mark inside forward 50 in the past 2 months.

Geelong 2007 won a lot and had Cam Mooney (67 goals) and Nathan Ablett (34) surrounded by Steve Johnson (49), Mathew Stokes (32), Paul Chapman (30) with Gary Ablett (30), Cameron Ling (28) and Brad Ottens (21) chipping in from midfield.

They also had baby Tom Hawkins (12) in reserve.

I wonder if Ken Hinkley remembers being there at the time.

Given from your list it looks as though they played two tall forwards and we are playing two tall forwards, and everyone is complaining about that, perhaps he remembers too much.

I have no doubt that's how the internally justify only slightly tinkering our shitshow of a forward line
