Pathetic effort, Norf are tanking for the free draft hits. AFL need to not reward this behaviour, it hurts other developing teams by pushing back their draft picks.

McKay is rubbish, surely no other team is going to pay him good $?

yep, one of the worst teams in living memory is definitely tanking when losing after travelling across half the country.

There really is only one club you could throw the tanking accusation at this year, and that's Hawthorn.

North and WCE are just bad.

They certainly tried. A lot of people tipped them for the spoon after they traded Mitchell, O'Meara and Gunston
That's one thing the Hawks are very good at, evaluating the performance of their senior players and moving them on when they aren't moving the team in the right direction.
They came nearly last with those three players on their list at the time.

How's this call looking, Hawks have won 3 out of their last five, including Pies and Dees in the last two weeks

There are easier ways to say "I don't understand what tanking is".

Tanking is a pure list management exercise. It's not teams who purposely try to lose games for draft picks, it's more about purposely putting a list in a state that their best can't win. The "oh we're in the race for pick 2, it's time to lose" just doesn't happen with any level of consistency and is more indicative of a self-destructive administrative group running the club. When it comes to it, the Hawks are the only team this year who actively chose to get worse this year for a brighter future. Adelaide was the same in '20-21 with how we sold off players.

There is a vast difference between that and teams like North and West Coast. They didn't make that decision. They planned to get better, however they just suck.

Why are we trading for their 1st? Trading pick 6 or 7 and 19 for Gold Coasts pick 4?
It is looking like we will end up with pick 8 or 9, there is only a couple of highly rated mids on offer this year and they will likely be gone by our current 1st. So to get access to them we will need to get a hold of the Suns pick. I would be fine with us giving up 8 and 19 if that secures us the elite mid we desperately need.

Other option is to give up our 1st next year and then keep our 1st this year, but in that scenario we would still need to give up 19.
