You just can’t see the big picture. Tassie is coming in and will steal the picks. It is a death sentence to any team rebuilding/middle on the pack at the time they arrive. Hence tanking now is the smart move for those who can’t contend for a flag. The clubs know it. It’s like the late 00s again.

Two teams came in at the same time before. Didn’t stop Hawthorn from staying up, didn’t keep us or Sydney from staying in the top 4

You literally played finals the year he did it against GWS
You were minor premiers the year he did it against the Suns
West Coast were wooden spooners. Wow.

‘Neffft.’

And Hawkins played in teams that belted clubs by 150+ points as the FF.

Well no, he played as the second forward behind Mooney - who kicked 5 himself - and kicked 5 against Melbourne when we beat them by 186 while Steve Johnson kicked 7. He wasn’t playing when we beat Richmond by 163.
Against Fremantle when we beat them by 133 he had 22 possessions, kicked 6, had 2 goal assists and played up the ground.
Against the Suns when we beat them by 120 again he had 22 touches, kicked 4 goals and gave off 3 assists. In both those games he got 2 Brownlow votes.

It seems quite obvious that there’s a pattern here. As much as he has stayed closer to goal later in his career when the huge wins and blowout scores have dried up, and his bigger hauls have started to come - an 8 goal bag and a 7 goal bag in the last couple of years - at times when we were actually belting teams by 20 goals and doing as we pleased, I think you’ll find it was rarely his modus operandi to just sit around waiting to kick goals.

All those teams had premiership players already in them or won flags around the same time as GC/GWS came in. They were contending for flags.

And Riewoldt in good or bad teams won Coleman’s and kicked bigger bags of goals than Hawkins. The end.

It actually is. Everything I say goes both ways as I use the stats. Try me, I critique Richmond all the time.
Repeat: Dunning-Kruger effect on full display. It seems to be a Collingwood-Richmond thing - the above is the Richmond version.

P.S. Saying the umpires robbed you does not count as 'I critique Richmond all the time'

Balta kicked a few goals against the blues, he played fwd, def, ruckman at various time during the game. Do we say Balta kicked goals from the ruck or from the backline? No we don’t. That’s the equivalent of what you are doing.

Season is looking good.

Fact is at the end of the season both of us will win nothing and we’ll have better draft picks. That’s a win for us.
You are so far off it's not funny. 1 singular first round pick is not going to fix that. That would be 2 in 5 years, right?

We're seeing it live with Hawthorn right now. They are miles ahead of Richmond in terms of the work they've done at the draft, and a coach that we all seem to rate...and even their own supporters know they are still years off competing.

It's going to take 3 years of hitting the draft at Tigerland to even catch up to Geelong, and they'd still be behind the likes of Hawthorn, Norf, & West Coast too.

That's of course implying that Geelong land no young talent through the draft (or traded in) for 3 years years...which seems unlikely to say the least.

....Have you really thought this through? Your logic on Richmond's rebuild seems to be based on the entire completion just stopping what they're doing while the Tiges get themselves together.

It doesn't work that way. You're starting a long way behind the pack, and it's going to take some shreud list management from yourselves, and some colossal failures from those above you to catch up.

Go learn how the draft works, you get multiple picks a year based on your ladder position not just one. You’re as thick as Kim Kardshian’s ass

Yep, that pick 24 after bids is really going to help turn your club around and help you catch up!!

Like I said, 1 genuinely elite pick is not nearly enough to fix this Richmond list.

That would be two first round picks in 4 years....and you seriously think you started the rebuild years ago?

I know you're not the brightest...but the coping mechanisms are getting a bit pathetic.

There is this thing called trading up.

If you think you can’t get elite picks after the first round you are mistaken.

We got Bolton at 29 and of course you got Stewart very late.

Top 5 pick plus a low 20s pick with potential to be upgraded for a few years gets you back in contention very quickly.

We’ll see, your older players a papering over the cracks. Yet again Hawkins and Stewart were your best players and you probably would’ve lost without them against the saints.

Yeah Hawkins’ 1 goal performance against the Saints was integral, he was definitely among our best.

Good argument. Way more important than the 3 goal effort of our rising star nominee.

Run along little falcon.

Only Falcon could turn a win on the road against a finals contender minus Duncan, Bruhn, Atkins, Guthrie, & Bowes into a negative.

Not to mention Stanley breaking his hand during the game, and Paddy now out for 3 weeks with a hamstring you'd think.

Can you imagine the excuses if that was the case down at Tigerland? They're still whinging about Prestia missing an hour of football 2 years ago!!
