Does anyone else think that the exchange of "late picks" may be in Geelongs favour?

Don't think we will be using many of these picks that get swapped ourselves, we will be on trading most of themDoes anyone else think that the exchange of "late picks" may be in Geelongs favour?
AFL Stats Nerd @AFLStatsNerdTop-20 picks traded after 2 seasons:
J.Kennedy (Pick 4, 2005)
T.Hislop (Pick 20, 2006)
L.Henderson (Pick 8, 2007)
J.Caddy (Pick 7, 2010)
Classic comedy. I just wet my pants.2010
Gold Coast sign Ablett
Geelong get 2 compensation picks, an after first round selection and middle of first round selection
Geelong trade middle of first round compensation pick to Gold Coast for pick 15 (Billie Smedts)
Gold Coast draft Josh Caddy (pick 7)
Fast forward
2012
Geelong trade after first round selection compensation pick to Gold Coast for Josh Caddy
Funny that.
Lock of gazza's hair is as rare as a Tippett Brownlow voteIf Gold coast put these Ablett compensation picks in a voodoo bag with a lock of Gaz's hair, can they make a clone Gary Ablett jnr?
Cool name; Gary Ablett Junior the second.
edit: Damn!! That hair bit is going to foil all there plans.
We also had Abletts first compo pick by trading pick 15 in the 2010 draft for it, so basically for pick 15 and Caddy we got Ablett and a mid first round draft pick. Just boggles the mind
Your club literally doesn't seem to have the stomach for the rough and tumble of trading. They rolled over as easily as they did against the WCE in the finals this year.
More accurately, my club wouldn't pay the ridiculous price GC were asking.
You mean a first round draft pick (which will be between 15-21 when activated) for a player with great potential that was initially drafted at pick 7? Yeah that is such a ridiculous price isn't it. North are super dooper smart not to fall for that one.More accurately, my club wouldn't pay the ridiculous price GC were asking.

yeah there will be some later picks swapped about. But as to what that will be is yet to be announced so your pointless speculation makes you look like nothing but a sore loser. You're paying much more than that.
Its a good point you make CF, the pick could well end up at the extreme of the first round if Geelong continues its fantastic recent run.
It's all a bit up in the air at the moment, so many numbers being thrown around and items yet to be finalised, such as
Only time will tell.
- the trading of picks to finalise the deal will have a baring on the overall trades percieved value
- Will Caddy live up to the hype, or is his 17th in the B&F a reflection of his true worth
- Will being at home spur on better performance
- Will Geelong fall over and make this pick at the other end of the scale
Rumours abound that Geelong have traded the compo and 15 for Caddy and a 2nd round pick (which GC wouldn't have used).
GC actually got the 2 first rounders they were after!
Does that not seem like overs to any Geelong fans?
Please let us know what we are paying DoP?You're paying much more than that.
If that's what the pick ends up as it all good but while trying to not to be too pessimistic it could theoretically be as high as pick 2 which would be way oversYou mean a first round draft pick (which will be between 15-21 when activated) for a player with great potential that was initially drafted at pick 7? completely agree. Geelong will finish in the top 8 in the next 2 years, at worse just outside, but I doubt it. We will never fall as low as 16 and as CA 08 has rightly pointed out we have never been a team that has bottomed out for picks. For that to happen it would take something that has never happened to Geelong in its VFL/AFL history to occur, we would need to finish lower than 12th
So Ablett goes to Gold Coast and Cats get compo pick.
Cats use compo pick to get Caddy from Gold Coast.
Gold Coast now holds Ablett compo pick.
Footy 2012....
