I hope the australian government watch this very very carefully as virgin is a main carrier here in Australia

QLD Govt announced yesterday it was offering to be a part of a bail out package?

Germany's No.1 publication BILD didn't miss the CCP. Don't reckon Editor Julian Reichelt will be on Xi Jinping's Christmas card list henceforth.

"You [Jinping], your government and your scientists had to know long ago that coronavirus is highly infectious, but you left the world in the dark about it."
BERLIN – The editor-in-chief of Germany’s largest paper Bild on Thursday launched a full frontal attack on China’s communist president Xi Jinping for his regime’s failure to come clean about the coronavirus outbreak and the massive human rights violations carried out by the Communist Party.
Julian Reichelt, the prominent editor-in-chief of the Bild, wrote to Jinping that “Your embassy in Berlin has addressed me in an open letter because we asked in our newspaper Bild whether China should pay for the massive economic damage the coronavirus is inflicting worldwide.”
He wrote that, "You [Jinping], your government and your scientists had to know long ago that coronavirus is highly infectious, but you left the world in the dark about it. Your top experts didn't respond when Western researchers asked to know what was going on in Wuhan. You were too proud and too nationalistic to tell the truth, which you felt was a national disgrace.”
Reichelt said that, “You rule by surveillance. You wouldn't be president without surveillance. You monitor everything, every citizen, but you refuse to monitor the diseased wet markets in your country. You shut down every newspaper and website that is critical of your rule, but not the stalls where bat soup is sold. You are not only monitoring your people, you are endangering them – and with them, the rest of the world.”
He continued with his bill of particulars, noting that “surveillance is a denial of freedom. And a nation that is not free, is not creative. A nation that is not innovative, does not invent anything. This is why you have made your country the world champion in intellectual property theft.
“China enriches itself with the inventions of others, instead of inventing on its own,” Reichelt wrote. “The reason China does not innovate and invent is that you don't let the young people in your country think freely. China’s greatest export hit (that nobody wanted to have, but which has nevertheless gone around the world) is coronavirus.”
The Bild editor-in-chief cited a Washington Post article reporting that, “your laboratories in Wuhan have been researching coronaviruses in bats, but without maintaining the highest safety standards. Why are your toxic laboratories not as secure as your prisons for political prisoners? Would you like to explain this to the grieving widows, daughters, sons, husbands, parents of corona victims all over the world?”
He concluded that, “In your country, your people are whispering about you. Your power is crumbling. You have created an inscrutable, non-transparent China. Before Corona, China was known as a surveillance state. Now, China is known as a surveillance state that infected the world with a deadly disease. That is your political legacy.”

I believe Virgin Australia have paid zero tax for the last 7 years.

Virgin founder Richard Branson actually resides in a tax haven. He has his own island, Necker Island, in the notorious tax secrecy archipelago, the British Virgin Islands.
And Virgin’s story is that the board of the airline, its executives and those who pull the strings from overseas think that paying income tax in Australia is optional, not compulsory.

Virgin and its auditors from KPMG don’t even bother to list tax as an item in their cashflow statement. Income tax is apparently not their thing.

There are $6 billion in cash receipts from customers last year, and finance costs and so forth. But no tax. They do deign to include a “tax expense” line in their income statement, but this number is forward-looking, an accounting estimate and, in Virgin’s case, quite possibly a fantasy. We shall see how this fantastical tax-expense number is borne out in real life this time next year.

It's what I have been saying for a long time... we must change our tax laws so a minimum tax rate is paid on income.

If these big corporates pay their fair share of tax, then we can lower the corporate & income tax rates.

Given the debt are currently accruing, there is even a greater need to bring equity back to our system.

Both majors talk the talk but to now neither walk the walk.

It might need a disaster like this pandemic to force their hand... though I don't hold my breath.

I read a bit more up on the Panama papers on the weekend & just a reminder of the inequities from the rich dodging their fair share.

The leader of which great power has done these five things during the COVID-19 outbreak? First, misled the world – and his own country – by pretending that there was no problem at the outset.

Second, once community transmission was already known to be happening in his country, lied about the extent of it. Third, cracked down on principled truth tellers. Fourth, blamed another country for the creating the pandemic as a way of deflecting his own failures. Fifth, dyed his hair an improbable colour.
A: Both Donald J Trump, and Xi Jinping... on all accounts.

This should keep happy those who are bleating about Trump being the only one accused, with the media giving other national leaders a free pass.

For the financial year 2017 - 2018

Now you're getting it!
There's something you should read:

Our plan to make our economy work for all of us, and put billions of dollars back into public services:
Introduce a super profits tax on the oil, gas and mining giants that operate in uncompetitive markets and with huge tax advantages · More »
End the billions in corporate handouts from government · More »
Make big corporations pay for their pollution, instead of getting government handouts · More »
Close the tax avoidance system, to stop giant multinationals dodging their tax bill · More »
Reverse the big tax cuts to shareholders and the super wealthy · More »
Both majors talk the talk but to now neither walk the walk.
Agreed again! They're both utterly corrupted by corporate money. But let's not pretend for a second that one of those parties doesn't have a significantly worse track record in this regard.

This will be our source of truth if/when he goes I reckon

They could potentially pretend he's alive for a long time using deep fake technology.

People think Gabon's president Ali Bongo Ondimba died or had a stroke a year and a half ago, because the only public appearances he's made have been really weird, possibly deep-faked videos. But the government still says he's alive and in charge. They even survived a military coup!

So possibly North Korea's real life version of the film, Dave.

Let's hope Creepy Joe Biden can get over the line this year. After the horrors we have had to endure with the Coronvirus the world is going to need lots of laughs and I reckon Creepy Joe can more than deliver in this dept (if nowhere else). His only concern is he has what appears to be a genuine, serious sexual allegation against him, although historically, this doesn't seem to concern Democrat voters (B Clinton).

"Creepy 2020"

Oooh golly, Houston we have a problem.
