Neither am I. Worst game ever.
Tigs getting the choccies is all that matters in the end but that was a pile of dung. Skills were horrid!
If we won a grand final like that,I would not give a fat rat's clacker.

If it was a state of origin game, best game of all time.

Had a rugby maul vibe about it.

So, Geelong, Essendon, Carlton and Collingwood all lost this weekend and we won. Where’s the down side?
Pies, Blues, Geelong Bombers lose. We win. What a week.
Carlton, Collingwood, Essendon and Geelong all losers 😊👍

Geez I have been falling out of love with footy for a while… that really helped😩.
Don’t think I’ve ever been to a game where every fan from both sides just sat taking the piss and just shaking heads.
Then you walk over the Maurice Rioli club for a last beer and they have a Rich v Ess game in from 1995 and it just absolutely drives home home just why i loved footy so much, and why I don’t now.
It was the general consensus in the room too.
The game is just so bad now and basically it’s had the shit coached out of it.
It used to be a gladiatorial contest, now it's over coached and over umpired.

Seems like it's turning into one of the worst seasons. So many teams are up and down. GWS beat all the top teams, yet they just sit in 8th spot. I wouldn't be surprised to see anyone win

I've witnessed so many soccer games where one team dominates, but the other team gets the points. Thats the main thing I guess as points is all that matters.

Worst game ever...

Faull battles away and another couple of strong contested marks and a nice goal will be another good step for his development and confidence.
Sims is the new almost player, looks as though he's a strong grab away from turning the corner but they spill at the last moment. Some of his mannerisms are identical to Jacks.
Hotton all class, I felt sorry for him at times playing in that game but he was all smiles at the end so happy for him.
Backline held up, Young good, Short was good and him Banks and Brown can work well together, he can teach them when to launch.
Mids prolific but ineffectual as usual and the forward line no chance with the delivery, but their lack of movement doesn't help.

Overall good for the boys to have a win and the smiles on their faces.

I’m ok if Dogs, GWS, Lions or Suns win it.

My Richmond ratings from last night, enjoy

Mansall - 10/10
Did nothing but hurt all their players and may be responsible for essendon not being able to field a team next week

Ben miller - 9/10
Not only was he a defensive blanket, he was really good with his disposal. Doing some grest things with his kicks. Surprised me.

Tylar Young - 9/10
Gave Caddy a bath, really impressed, I think we either play balta forward or ice him, because the defence looks better without him

Taranto - 8/10
Fought all day. ****ing gave it his everything and slotted that much needed goal after a 60 minute drought.

Hopper - 8/10
Similar to taranto and he kicked the banana which was super impressive, stepped up

Short - 7/10
Pretty good first game back, kicked a huge goal

Banks - 7/10
Outside 50 goal and so good with the pill. Dude is a lock now next 10 years

Prestia - 7/10
Clean with the ball. He might need to play on next year.

Ross - 6.5/10
He tagged merrett and made him useless. Maybe needs to play a tagging role

Kamdyn McIntosh- 6/10
Stopped a lot of scores on the goal line a lot. He also was composed and made minimal mistakes.

Jonty - 6/10
Went up the ground and actually held onto good contested marks. He reminds me of Jeremy Cameron, really glad he got reward with that goal

Taj - 6/10
Silky. Won every contest he was in, jumped at the ball to bring the mark down in the first. Rather than wait for the spoil, the kid is clean.

Brown - 5.5/10
Lots of the ball. Half good half bad, wasnt his best game.

Vlastuin - 5.5/10
Did some dumb shit with Broad in the defensive 50 that really cost us. Dunno why he overpossessed it. Still did many good things though.

Broad - 4.5/10
Average game from him. Overpossessrd the ball. Wasn't creative and turned it over too much.

Nank - 4/10
Must be injured, didnt dominate enough against Goldstein who is essendon a 50 year old senior citizen. We need to start thinking about life after Nank, hes getting older and worse.

Trainor - 3/10
Missed set shots. Ducked so much, will build himself a poor rep if he milks for frees, must run in the blood as his grandfather kicked 1000 goals for the filthy cats. Nice 1 handed mark going back with the flight.

Seth Campbell - 2.5/10
This guys had a really quiet month.

Tresize- 2/10
Wasnt on long enough as he was sub but didn't do anything good. Had one shot at goal and sprayed it

Sonsie - 1/10
So much of the ball, every time he just takes TOO LONG TO DECIDE WHAT TO ****ING DO AND ESSENDON JUST ALL FLOOD DOWN. Hes ****ing shit.

Maurice Rioli - 1/10
Back to being ****ing shit, gets in good positions and just ****S EVERYTHING UP. He was essendons best defender

Sims - 0/10
Got spanked by goldy, called for the ball on the goalline and missed the sealer. Took one great mark and kicked it on the full. Can't kick for shit this dumb campaigner

Kozi - 💀🐒
Was his NDIS worker with him? This guy has the football IQ of a Dodo Bird. His career will be extinct soon

Some needs to remind kozi no quick handballs to a ruckman under pressure in the goal sq , dumbest decision of the year , rucks take too long to react from brain to hand to foot , dopey football just glad it didn’t cost us I would have been fuming
I thought was apt that when Kozi fumbled the mark on the boundary, it smacked into head. I would given him a back hander too if I was close enough…

We have had 1 x off season with this playing group, they can only teach and try implement so much.

You can’t teach the entire game plan in 1 off season

Think of it as a tiered cake.

We are at the base level at the moment which yes, is easy to shut off and pick apart.

As the years go on layer 2, 3 and 4 will get added in the next 3-4 years.

We just need to chill and understand it’s a process that takes time.

If we are still playing like this with no other method or movements in 2 years then yep, massive red flags to be concerned with.

To confirm, im certainly not saying we should move him on or anything, I think he was 100% the correct hire from what we had to choose from at the time.

I was a lot more vocal in the final Dimma years than I have been of late as i saw a clear drop in our standards & for one of the first times in my life, disliked the group that were running & playing for our club. I also was pretty vocal that history shows that when a generational, culture changing coach like Dimma, Sheedy, Pagan etc moves on from a club, almost always, the next coach fails to achieve any real success. What you hope for most is they wont send your club backwards.

Yze at worst has made the place a healthy environment again & that alone has made him already a "success", i'm just not sure if he has the tools to be a Top 4 / Premiership coach. Reading articles like the below about Jack Graham under Mini's leadership, makes me even more convinced.

Dimma poisoned the club with his affair and arrogance. He poisoned the group. I've seen it in companies before where a personality thinks they are so much responsible for the success that instead of doing their job of uniting the company, they made a faction of "Team Dimma" & "the rest". Fit in, or **** off. The chemistry between the young and old group was non existent. Yze though has made the club close to being "100% Richmonds" again. I think he might have to make some tough calls on Lynch, Balta to get fully to 100%.

However, its pretty hard to ignore just how poor the quality of games have been at times. They style has provided some games of pure slop. I would certainly not be looking at sacking him before the end of his contract & unless someone undeniably better comes available/interested ( ie McCrae, Kingsley etc ), i'm happy for them to extend him 1-2 years as the clubs bigggest issue when he arrived was the complete breakdown of the culture, & he does appear to be fixing that.

It used to be a gladiatorial contest, now it's over coached and over umpired.

Over-coached for sure.
The saying used to be politics and sport shouldn't mix.
I'd add "science" to that statement.

People from overseas used to marvel at the spectacle that AFL was, the long goals, the high marks, the explosive runs. Now it feels all very robotic, stage-managed and vanilla.

It’s actually 2 off seasons the , if you count the new cubs it’s only one off season which is the same every season , stop making excuses about timing , we have yet to hit 100 points and the talk is if we don’t hit 80 points we lose, last night being the exception, the game plan , if there is one is not sustainable , you can’t go two quarters every game without kicking a goal and be happy as a supporter, player, coach , our game plan is utter garbage , some one called me our=t when I said all our players were at some stage elite , they are deemed the best if they are drafted, they don’t suddenly all become duds

This is primarily down to the coaching/coaches , they don’t forget how to kick, they don’t forget how to hand pass , and occasionally we see that they haven’t .

The coaches at the elite level are there to set the style of game and to motivate , certainly in the elite level that I was involved in , I didn’t need to teach my players how to kick or pass but to implement a game style that suited their skill sets.

Ouzo hasn’t or can’t do this , why are other first year draftees picked up later in the draft performing to a game style?

I don’t know what they do at training but it certainly not game style/plan and if it is we are heads towards the worst team since Fitzroy if we aren’t already there.

I know it’s not the done thing to say **** we screwed the pooch with our selection of coach , but sinetimes you got to bite the bullet .

Hardwick in his first year showed improvement in our game style with “the worst team since Fitzroy “ this muppet is going backwards at an

Geez you are a hard task master. We are double the number of wins from last year already. Clearly have a better list than any other bottom 7 club.

Yze was selected after a thorough process. A process run by the same people that built a dynasty. He was not just plucked from thin air.

Sacking good coaches after 18 months is what Essendon and Carltoon do. I want us to be premiers ASAP and I fail to see how the Carltoon/Essendon school of management will make that happen.

Prestia - 7/10
Clean with the ball. He might need to play on next year.

If you think we should keep Prestia on you are off your ****.

Body is cooked. No point only having 5 experienced players is half of them are always injured. Club needs to move him on and replace with another experienced mid at a similar age who is not physically cooked. Availability needs to be the #1 KPI on anyone over 30

Hey, watch the replay VFL third quarter at the 9.54 when gib aggravates what he did in first quarter and watch him walk off a sit down with his hands on his face. Smith was worried, and so was the trainer. https://www.afl.com.au/video/136246...dal=true&type=video&publishFrom=1752295844001

I just watched it, he comes off the ground looking proppy - but walks himself off. I don;t really see the whole hands in his face thing tho. Looks like he gets a water bottle and has a drink. No one is running over to him and talking to him. Just sits on his own and looks pretty normal. Is there an actual injury reported? The guy is coming of 2 years off -the odds of him being proppy were always going to be high. As long as its not a re-aggravation of a serious type of injury i don't see much reason to stressing over it

I'd add "science" to that statement.

Maybe over analysed is a better thing to say.
That covers coaching, sports science and media.
Sports science ruined Essendon (not that I'm to unhappy about that).
What we have learnt about CTE is good and we do need to help protect the player from themselves by getting concussion and playing on with it, but the AFL have gone too far with the potential for injury.
