For the love of god please no Lipinksi.

Isn’t prepared to put his body in for the footy so useles in finals, don’t waste games on him when we know what he will give us which is soft footy with nice skills.

Regardless of what happens on Friday night, I expect we will be quite competitive, which actually says a lot about our list given who we won't have out there. Our first 2 rucks (although I've been impressed with big Sweeter), Dunkley and Treloar out of our midfield and we can still go into a game boasting a pretty strong on-ball brigade.

If we can halve our next 4 games and pick up 2 wins, we will be sitting 11-3 with lots of players about to come back and the toughest stretch of our draw behind us.

It's a no to Lipinski for me too.

We've got all of our nice users behind the ball (Horse, Daniel, Dale, Duryea) and stacked our mids and small forwards with either pace and/or grunt. Unfortunately for Lipisnki, that's not him.

Salem out would be huge for this game. Just as impactful as us losing Dale, if not more considering we at least have Williams and Daniel who could step up.

Demons have an otherwise fairly healthy list, with only a couple best 22 players out. If we can take them down while missing Dunks, Martin, Wood, Treloar, McLean, Vandermeer and possibly Gardner and English, it would be huge for confidence. Our depth is being tested, and it's held up so far, but this is definitely a losable game.

OUT: Treloar (Inj), Scott (Inj)
IN: Garcia (debut), English

If Scott is good to go, it's tough to pick who comes out for English. Possible we move Scott to emergency. Would be rough to drop Roarke after the Saints game, but as a depth role player he's probably the one most at risk of dropping

Not sure I agree with that to be honest,

Gawn > Sweet
Bont > Petracca
Macrae > Brayshaw
Libba = Oliver, take your pick here and I may be biased and Oliver has exceeded my expectations this year as I’ve never really rated him previously but I’d be leaning towards Libba.
Baz > whoever their 4th mid is
Hunter = Langdon take your pick

I think we still have them covered even witho it Dunks & Treloar

Gawn > Sweet does not represent the level he is better. No disrespect meant to Sweet but it's like Libba to Bytel last week.

Bont>Petracca
Macrae>Brayshaw

Fair enough but Petracca is as close as anyone bar Dusty and Bont is prone to an off day.

Oliver and Libba are about equal.
I'd say.
Langdon=Hunter
Viney>Smith
Both have the ability to be better though.

Playing all 4 of Cordy, Lipinski, Schache and West against Richmond was the big problem that game imo.

Hopefully we never make the same mistake again.
What's the common denominator though? They all bring very very different things to the team. You could just assemble any random 4 players from any loss we have and blame it on them. Cordy & Lipinski have been apart of plenty of wins this year.

Ask most Demons fans on here and most are lamenting Gawn’s form this year, especially over the last month.

If Sweet can handle Ryder one out and get coach’s votes, no reason he can’t back it up against Gawn (especially if English is back to chop him out).

A couple OF - don't go all Yankee

If they are lamenting Gawn's form it's a bit like the spoiled rich kid I knew at uni. He once complained to me that he couldn't drive the family Porsche in and had to settle for his BMW instead. I was sitting there with barely enough for an 88 Commodore with no transmission and a window that was stuck halfway up.

An underdone and over the hill Ryder one out is a very different prospect to a prime Gawn even with decent back up. For example Gawn was middling on the weekend and still took ten marks (5 contested), had 20, 32 hitouts and a goal.

Did you see his game?

Gawn is my biggest concern. If your ruck work has gone to sh*t, and you’re dropping easy marks, exactly what are you bringing to the side atm? Getting caught HTB in the last few minutes? Guy has fallen off a cliff the last month.

From “let’s give him a rest against a bad Norf” to “maybe he needs a game off because he’s hurting the side”.

Gawn just needs to stop being so cute with his damn hitouts. That flick over the back that lead to an Adelaide goal in their F50 was horrendous.

Never been physical imo. Always timid.

Stop trying for sexy hitouts that look good on the highlight reel all the time, change sh*t up occasionally, nothing wrong with a bash it forward for territory occasionally.

He's not a good ruck. Never really has been. His a large follower, an old fashioned kick behind the play ruck.
I absolutely hate him leading into the pockets for the ball, may aswell just set up for a point

The aura of invincibility was fairly visible in the podcast last week. Thought Max and Gus bought into what their guest was selling, and they certainly didn't sound like guys who expected a big contest this week. Having said that, Gus actually had one of his better games. The less said about Max's game the better - he needs a reset. His intricate ruck work has gone down the toilet, so he needs to start playing for territory for a while. He's still elite, but it's pretty telling that Jackson is thrown in when we need to win clearances these days given his follow up work.

Just a few examples from some die hard Demons fans and their thoughts on Gawn. His marking is a weapon for sure, but his actual ruck craft in 2021 is no better than Ryder (and most Dees fans would say it's considerably worse).

Yes.

And we have had several posters on here complaining about Lachie Hunter every week the year he won our Best and Fairest.

With all due respect I don't put much stock in the views expressed on bigfooty especially with supporters who've been spoiled watching a gun ruck ply their craft for years.

Furthermore, I'm less interested in his ruck work (which at this stage is still far better than Sweet or English) and far more worried about his work around the ground.

I reckon Baz will get the job on Petracca. He's a good match-up.
