Sheffield Shield Round 8: WA v Vic @ WACA

True it's unnecessary but short spells for all 5 at their absolute best pace rotating in and out on a fast bouncy WACA wicket...

Would the Poms even bother showing up to Melbourne after that?
The WACA expects to host the Ashes test at the new stadium. The pitch will be an underwhelming drop-in.

Pattinsonjust needs more bowling. His test record is terrific. He's proven to be up to the level
He was... but he's played 3 tests in the last 14 months? Hardly setting the world on fire in either of his matches with the ball so far. He got MOTM last game because of his batting more than anything.

The dream would be Starc, Patto, Cummins, Hazelwood, Dorff combo on the WACA...who knows how it would work but would be pretty cool to see.

Starc and Cummins would do ok at 7 and 8.
Patto's a better bat than Cummins.

Well that was outstanding, what a return from a terrific fast bowler.

Don't get me wrong there's plenty the Australian selectors can be bagged out for over past year or two, however the difference it would have made to the feel of Australian cricket in recent times to have Behrendorff, Pattinson, Cummins & Coulter-Nile all fit and firing rather then the uninspiring likes of Boland, Worrall, Mennie, Sayers, Tremain et al. either in or around the fringes of national squads is enormous. Don't want to be disrespectful to those guys but there is a vast gap in the skills necessary to succeed at the next level.

Please leave Sayers off the list next time. Much like SOK, you don't have a FC average that low by accident.

I absolutely respect his record, but I do see him in a similar kind of ilk to Trent Copeland (in his prime). Have no doubts at all that he could play a disciplined role in a test match if called upon, but to me if that role is required it's Bird who fills it.

2nd innings runs or Marcus can **** off back to Grade cricket.

125 runs @ 13.88 is abysmal, so abysmal that actually he needs to be dropped not even taking into account the 2nd innings.
Lynch and Ronnie need to grow a pair an punt him already.

In typical Marcus Harris style, he'll probably get a really good looking 40 odd and keep his spot.

Stoinis. Been absolutely woeful and must have photos on the selectors, not a number 3's a-hole. Drop him ffs.

Harris would be close to our leading run scorer.

Dorff enjoying his first stint with the Duke ball. Might be handy in England :)
Thats what's called getting ahead of yourself. Need 2-3 of these performances at least.
Sayers has taken 50 wickets this season, with 2 games to go, he's next cab off the rank, then daylight....

Not really, dorff isn't exactly a one innings wonder. He's been consistent for a while around injuries

There isn't "daylight" between them, especially as dorff is 3 years younger and has a similar average
