Nostradamus Lives Tom Mitchell to Hawthorn

Got to love it. On another thread you have Hawks saying Bruest is in the $200k-$300k pay bracket and in this thread they say they wouldn't trade him for Mitchell who will be in the $500k pay bracket.

Good grief.
?

There isn't a Hawk in the top 25 highest paid players in the league according to Clarkson at a recent function, so making reference to pay-packets as if they outline comparable on-field value is a bit odd.

And yes, as The 747 points out, most people wouldn't trade out an AA forward like Bruest for an inside midfielder, when they are so readily available in each draft.

To expand, a forward's (not a gorilla KPFs) production is dependent on synergy with the rest of the team. You can't assume that Bruest, for example, would maintain his current production in a different team - it depends how the ball moves through the middle etc. If you have a productive forward who kicks goals, there is no point trading them for a mid who gets it a lot because you still need to manufacture those goals somehow - and you were already manufacturing them with the productive forward. It's kinda circular but you get my drift.

What????

In any event, I was more laughing at those who went through the Hawks list and estimated that players like Bruest were accepting $100ks less than their value because #Hawthorn.

But you could do that with every team

1 poster has a guess at a players wage, another poster thinks they know more or has a different opinion & has a guess that's totally different

This isn't limited to supporters of the 'greatest team of all', it's common with supporters of the rest of the 'not as good teams' too ;)

No doubt that top 25 is filled with Richmond, Blues and Brisbane players :D

The stupid part of having to pay 95% of the salary cap. AFL equalisation at its best.
Think Tom Boyd, Scully and Franklin would get in there in 2016.

Hill will be traded out but Freo wont be giving their first up for him and they have no second.
Reality is Omear will cost two firsts to one first and a second.
Mitchell will be a top ten pick at a minimum ans Crouch would be.
Not going to be easy to get any of those deals done. Maybe you send your first and Hill to Freo for their first, which they then use for McCarthy.
The Freo pick would gain a Mitchell you would think.
But would the Hawks be happy to lose both their first and Hill for Mitchell?

Personally I would think first round for Mitchell and Crouch but not top 10 for either. With Freo, they will trade for picks and get compo picks if players leave for free agency (north looking at Mayne) and get some picks in the 20s or so... multiple ones of those for mitchell or crouch. Maybe even this year and nexts first round pick for one of them... just a thought

No, Clarkson holds the hand here, and he's made that clear by going to the press.

Hill will only be traded if it benefits Hawthorn. Eg, the trade rewards Hawthorn with something that they can then use to land Mitchell.

Wow!
Just how good are Hawthorn!
They are the best at just about everything now.
Clarko has even become a really nice bloke too.
To think he punched a hole in the wall afte rjust one loss.

Go you good Hawks.
Go Clarko you geniune good bloke.
This is so puke worthy now!

Tom Mitchell is so overrated for a kid who hasn't done anything yet. So he can rack up big numbers from time to time, so what!!! Pretty sure Rhys Palmet was racking up big numbers for freo when he won the rising star award.

Tom Mitchell will be nothing more then a Chris Masten caliber player, he will be handy but never elite.

Hawks should be targeting O'Meara and Brad Crouch and no one else

Mitchell can't kick, won't fit our style. O'meara is a like for like for hill (outside mid)
Crouch is the one I'd chase though, start him on the wing to start with the view of him eventually taking Sam Mitchell's place in the guts

Don't be revisionist: he punched a hole in the wall at quarter time of a match in 2012 against Collingwood that we went on to win handsomely

I sense some sour buttocks from this swannie.

Hawks need inside mids.

Mitchell would be a perfect fit. He has a good stop start kicking action which would fit in well with their kicking gameplan. Think there going very hard for Mitchell, Crouch and O'Meara.

Anyone know whether the swans can sack Talia for some form of breach of contract?. If his contract is terminated it would free up cap space for Mitchell,

It sounds like you have one of these on your shoulder my friend.

It's not about cap space for Mitchell, he wants to be back in Melbourne with his father.
