Recommitted Tom Papley [wanted to return to Victoria, nominated Carlton - didn't get there]

Better is questionable at best. For every wood there are a dozen papleys. Key position talents are much rarer, we know that, sydney knows that. Sydney wants wood more than woods wants sydney. Bargaining power is in our hands.

If Wood is so special then you should be keeping him right? why trade him at all.

56 games in 6 years, his best return is 22 goals last year. Also his best season is this year where he has played 17 games in total.

Papley has played 20+ games every year for last 4 years. his highest goal output is 35 goals this year.

If Papley is worth just a second rounder, Wood won't even be close to a fourth.

What's that green tag say in the thread title? CONTRACTED

You want a contracted player, you pay overs.

Wood hardly has any currency, been a serial tease his whole career and dropped yet again last week and TBH, the only spot we have for him is in the NEAFL.

So up to suitors to "buy" him out of his 2020 contract, like a 2020 first rounder.

Wood is on $500k a year and contracted.

If the Swans are legitimately interested as has been reported in Melbourne, you aren't taking on a contracted $500k per year forward for nil value.

The wheel works both ways.

Just because the Swans fans don't like the deal, doesn't make it illegitimate.

Wood has been a best 22 player for as long as Papley when not injured.

There's not a whole lot of difference here other than the games played column, which is where Sydney will be compensated if this deal eventuates.

What is the obsession with pairing up a spud and a second rounder to get a gun? Never happens and never will.

You traded pick 13 for a guy with very similar statistics....

Wood is a spud mate. Gonna take a lot more than him and a draft pick to prise away Paps from The Swans.

Wood for Papley!

That's taking it in the arse for SYdney

If Wood is a Spud, so is McGovern, Silvagni and any number of Carlton players he has a better AFL record than.

What is fair value, Rhyce Shaws first born son?

Are we confusing Papley with Steve Johnson or Robbie Gray in their primes are we?

I think he's legitimately worth a pick in the early-mid teens. I don't think that value is too hard to work back from. If Sydney wan't 2 x first rounders, that's fine, but he's only contracted for 1 more year.....

Did you miss this line?

"There's not a whole lot of difference here other than the games played column, which is where Sydney will be compensated if this deal eventuates."

I'd value Papley as worth a pick in the low teens.

Wood + a pick in the mid 20's is about right imo, which values Wood at pick 40, which is unders from what North would request in a straight trade for him.

Check your facts on the trade before commenting.

You are looking to get rid of Wood. Not the same.

Are we?

There was a pre-draft meeting 2 weeks ago, how do we know this wasn't instigated by Sydney?

North Melbourne fans are the only ones saying we are interested in Wood. No one else is. The Swans are not interested in Wood, and quit pretending that North Melbourne fans think Wood is a player of any real worth.

Nowhere except this thread has Wood been connected to the Swans, and that’s only by desperate North supporters trying to trade an average player for a gun.

Papley has been linked to North and the Blues also by the media for a few weeks now.

The meeting was not centred around Mason bloody Wood.

How do you honestly know this?

North hasn't been linked to Papley in the media either, but it seems to be the rumours circulating at the moment.

How about this?
Paps is going NOWHERE!

Especially not to North that has very little currency, Mason Wood's value is about the same as the rock that Homer Simpson bought off Lisa.

Papley might be possibly gettable if a club can pay overs, but those NMFC trade suggestions is insulting to everyone's intelligence.

Perfect timing.

According to SEN Breakfast’s Sam Edmund, Mason Wood is reportedly set to be put up for trade, with Sydney one of the teams interested.

“It’s very likely Mason Wood’s North Melbourne career is about to come to an end,” he said.

“The Kangas are happy to put him up for trade. It’s likely he’s going to be involved in a deal with the Swans, maybe even with the likes of Tom Papley.

“The Kangas have a lot of players in that position. They’re really impressed with Cam Zurhaar, Jack Ziebell plays there as well.”

It seems Blues fans are just a little dirty if this thread is anything to go by, considering there's 10 pages of Tom Papley instances within the search function on their team board.

It seems most had locked him into their best 22 for 2020 for the last month.

I think you guys need to concentrate on the "Cogs" thread with the Hawks supporters so that 2020 best 22 doesn't change too much on the team board...

Sam Edmunds... not really in the know for us at all. If was Adam Curtley sure.

Also these rumours have appeared a day or two after it was floated on Bigfooty.

Has very, very little currency at the minute.
