VFL Game Day VFL Round 13: Essendon vs Preston (111-30 win)

Essendon and Preston go head to head in a clash which will break open the VFL season, the winner will go a game clear inside the 8, and potentially only a game outside the top 4. Essendon have won two of their past 3 games but are in some up and down form, whereas Preston have lost their past 4 games in a form slump.

Essendon defeated the hapless North Ballarat away from home and really dominated from half time onwards. Ben Howlett was very prominent for the Dons, collecting 28 possessions and kicking a goal, whilst captain Nick O'Brien was back to his usual self with 33 disposals and up forward young gun Jayden Laverde kicked 3 goals from 7 shots, which would have been a very good day out whilst Jackson Merrett also kicked 3

Preston have endured a mid season form slump, going down to close to flag favourites Port Melbourne by 23 points in a game they could never really get into. Blaine Boekhorst was prominent for the Carlton aligned side, collecting 32 disposals, Billie Smedts also played well with 24 disposals whilst only one multiple goal scorer in Andrew Gallucci showed the lack of class for the Blues forward.

I feel Essendon should win this, by 33 points.

forward line for the future with Laverde, Langford and Begley all starting up forward. The game is leaning towards mobile fwd halves, we are lucky that Stewart and Joe are nimble enough to play (pseudo) small roles, but these guys aforementioned could really push for a position in that front half.

Hope they line up a little more like;-

Ridley Dea Long
Francis Ferry Mutch
Langford Howlett Stanton
Begley Boyce Redman
Laverde Stratchan J.Merrett

McKernan Hocking Clarke

Luey A.Heppell Hind O'Brien
Marklew Morey Younan Darby
Berry

Look how strong that left side is.....!!!
Also very interested to see how young Boyse & Stratchan go - both have big futures in my opinion and should both be on AFL lists in 2018

Our gameplan today should be to only kick to left hand side of the ground.
