And?
You don't think it is odd? I mean GWS is very good this year, not a look in, and not a single game between two non-Victorian teams.

And?
Because GWS doesn't have a large fan base, this has been explained many many times, the AFL fixture for maximum $ output first and foremost. You don't think it is odd? I mean GWS is very good this year, not a look in, and not a single game between two non-Victorian teams.
And this favours the vic teamsAnd?
Yes for $ reasons, not bias reasons. And this favours the vic teams
Yes for $ reasons, not bias reasons.

No it's not funny, it actually makes sense, vic is the biggest market has the biggest member / fan bases apart from WC.Funny how whatever the reasons they almost always end up benefiting the Victorian clubs.
Well the vic govt. made the AFL an offer they couldn't refuse, and that point is moot anyway.Ah the old Vic line.... its the $ except when its not about the $.
AKA we won't do our due diligence to see if we could make more money by spreading the GF around (and growing the game Australia wide which by defn would bring in even more $$$) and we won't let Vic clubs sell games to cashed up interstate clubs because its not about the $.
It’s about money, not Victoria.Friday night
Round 16 (Brisbane vs Melbourne)
Round 17 (Collingwood vs Essendon)
Round 18 (Collingwood vs Geelong)
Round 19 (Essendon vs Adelaide)
Round 20 (Carlton vs Port Adelaide)
Round 21 (Western Bulldogs vs Melbourne)
Round 22 (Sydney vs Collingwood)
Round 23 (Essendon vs Sydney)
So 16 teams playing on Friday from Round 16 to 23, and of those 16 teams only 5 of them are not Victorian. There are no Friday night games not involving a Victorian club and 3 games only involving Victorian teams.
Agreed. Just economics. No it's not funny, it actually makes sense, vic is the biggest market has the biggest member / fan bases apart from WC.
Again, this is NOT a conspiracy.
Same as the epl, nfl, nba, budslegia............... the list goes on.Agreed. Just economics.
Who cares that it’s meant to be a competition? Does it matter? Of course not.
They do pretend to have some semblance of an even fixture however, if not tv spots.Same as the epl, nfl, nba, budslegia............... the list goes on.
Really? Compared to the AFL?They do pretend to have some semblance of an even fixture however, if not tv spots.
Round 18 had to be a MCG game.Friday night

Round 19 had to be a Marvel game.
Round 21 had to be a Marvel game.
Round 23 had to be a Marvel game.
So when given the choice, 3/4 matches were chose to be Interstate.
3 games at those venues over the weekend. Why did they have to be?
3 games at those venues over the weekend.
You aren't seriously suggesting the contrived slop of the AFL fixture is akin to EPL and Bundesliga, with their perfect H&A balance. UnbelievableReally? Compared to the AFL?
Remember, most if not all clubs in those leagues are privately owned, and AFAIA the epl doesn't have a salary cap. Those leagues are even more $ driven than the AFL.
Also, leagues like the epl have far more tv avenues than what the AFL does for fans to watch.
Not sure what this means?and who signed those contracts?
Not so much the fixturing but other metrics that the AFL has like salary and soft caps, and that clubs are member owned not privately owned. You aren't seriously suggesting the contrived slop of the AFL fixture is akin to EPL and Bundesliga, with their perfect H&A balance. Unbelievable
The former is possible, you just cut the number of Victorian teams. It's been shown over and again that this is a rational answer to Vicbias. That doesn't mean it will happen, but it shouldNot so much the fixturing but other metrics that the AFL has like salary and soft caps, and that clubs are member owned not privately owned.
The only way to have a completely even fixture is have every club each once or twice or go to conference leagues, obviously the former two are not possible.

It might address some of the issues that people complain about, but it'll make the go home stuff bigger as go home players spread over less clubs. The former is possible, you just cut the number of Victorian teams.
