One extreme to the other over the last 2 games. Injuries building, but then again perhaps plenty to come back.

Sitting 5th now can, seems accepted you need to be top 4 to win the flag, i am a big believer this is true, right now our fate is on our hands of course.

This is our run home.

Carlton scg
Melbourne mcg
GWS scg
WCE subiaco
Richmond SCG
Bulldogs Etihad
Collingwood ANZ
STkilda SCG
Geelong simmonds
Hawthorn Anz

This is our current injury list
Goodes unknown
Reid
Shaw
Jetta
Johnson confirmed gone
LRT
Everitt
Rohan unlikely
Mumford
Mattner gone
Walsh
Naismith

Think thats everyone

I believe we will struggle to finish top 4 with that injury list, everitt hurts because there is basically noncover for AJ LRT or everitt, Pyke is better with mumford. But im presuming a lot of these guys come back. We cannot go from thinking how do we fit the players in to being rubbish.

The must wins because we should for me are carlton, Melbourne, GWS, Richmond (tentative), bulldogs, stkilda. Out best should win them

West coast and collingwood we should win, but being at subiaco and collingwood i still worry about the hoodoo despite winning the last 2, but our best footy should be good enough to get to the last 2 without another hit which should get us top 4. At best we can probably only afford to drop one of these games now and then anymore we have to win both the pies and hawks game.

I am a big wrap for our side, maybe it helps i did not watch the power game, but to me the power win is so big for them because we actually are a good side. Take nothing from port but there are quite a few factors including them being motivated against a good side going against us. Id back us to bounce back.

Despite what some media people think, like Damien Barrett on footy classifieds right now saying Tippett is basically lousy i am optomisitic about what he brings to the side, ok he is probably overpaid he isnt a 80 goal a year forward superstar yet but i think he can be the missing piece.

Provided injuries come right i think we get top 4, top 2 probably means we need to lose no more than one game and ensure we beat hawthorn and geelong.

I am going to go out on a limb and vote right now that yes for whatever reason we will win the flag, the question is right now after our worst loss for the year and falling to fifth do you think we will win the flag.

To me injuries are obviously the one issue that will change my mind.

It's way too early to call but I think it might be Hawthorn's year, they overcame the toughest early fixture despite having the same shortened pre-season that we did. Clarko seems to have them primed to overcome the disappointment of last year. I hope I'm wrong because we can still take them at our best and absolutely can do it again but injuries are going to make it tough. I'm kind of just looking forward to seeing how the rest of the season unfolds.

Port game was a big disappointment but I kind of feel we got what we deserved. The response next week will tell us a lot. We have struggled against Malthouse-coached sides for some time now (maybe THAT is the real hoodoo??) and we simply must win on Friday night if we are serious about finishing in the top 4.

I think Freo could very well do a Sydney of 2012, was the Port game a telling sign that injuries are catching up with us or just a one off?

Hard to tell... I rate Freo and they are my second tip for the flag at the moment (subject to change, the swans are currently my third). I'm not sure if we can read much into the Port loss yet.

It's worth mentioning that while making predictions is fun, it is ultimately a pointless exercise as we saw in the two big upsets this weekend, as the unexpected will ALWAYS happen. And by the unexpected I mean that which NO-ONE could possibly have predicted, like Ash McGrath kicking the winning goal after his team was 52 points behind. This time last year I was too busy thinking Andrejs Everitt for saving our skins against the Cats, certainly wasn't thinking flag at that stage!!

I am a pessimist by nature. Yes we can win it, but no we won't. The winner will come from Hawks, freo, Richmond, essendon, Sydney and Geelong. But this week is as critical a game as we've got. Lose it and I don't think we finish top four.

Framing a market, I'd give hawthorn 8 chances in 25, freo 5, essendon 2, Richmond 2, Sydney 3 and Geelong 5. I am not sure that Geelong are actually going that well but they should finish top 4 as should freo who have been super impressive. The last place in the top four comes from one of three teams as I don't think collingwood can make it.

Can I ask a personal question?
Are you Leigh Matthews?

I think the reason we lost on the weekend is that we started focussing on the final destination, rather than the next step in getting there.

I don't mind us punters having a go at a thread like this. But I really hope our players are focussed on one thing only ... Carlton.

Agreed just a bit of fun, something to look back and see if we were right or not

Carlton game is huge , I disagree about Tippett to me he is a taller Jesse white , but apart from that not much difference between the two.

Tippett can hold a mark (And is on a little more coin that J.White

I think it is unlikely but possible. I think Hawthorn, Freo & Geelong are more likely than us. Richmond I don't fancy as a possibility. Essendon and Carlton I consider capable of having a good run home, too.

After the way we played this weekend, No.
Yet, if i was asked 2 weeks ago, then Yes.
The gap between our best and worst is so big that I am quite worried.
We can't afford to lose any more games like we did on the weekend, otherwise we can kiss our Top 4 chance goodbye... Which means a chance to defend our Premiership...

Hate these kinds of threads, no one knows if we will or not. Lets just take it one week at a time like the players do.

Carlton is a must win though.
