Found this on Wikipedia re Laverton:
Premierships:
  • Under 12 (2): 2000, 2001
  • Under 14 (2): 2001, 2005
  • Under 16 (1): 2004
Where the hell did all these kids go? Thats a pretty successful junior program in the early 2000's
Laverton FC in the 1970s had the best juniors in the old WSFL by a mile............. better than Altona Werribee Centrals Hoppers Xing etc

They were all C/D grade premierships. Their first team practically against Hoppers/Werribee/Altona/Williamstown B, C or D teams.

A few of their players went through and had all right careers until injury took over.

Ive just had a look the 2001 under 12 and 14 flags were in B grade when there was 4 divs at that stage. There would have had to have been some pretty solid talent to even win a B grade junior flag at the time.

Josh Lambert was a pretty handy footballer who made his way through their junior ranks. Knee injuries cut his senior career short.

If they had been able to keep and develop the kids that have gone through there in the last 20 years they would be a more than competitive Div 2 team.

Paone

Lawry
Hartshorne
Murray

and plenty more I can’t recall off top of head

2021 WRFL SEASON DETERMINATIONS

The WRFL Board met this week and made a number of key determinations following the cancellation of the 2021 season.

These determinations are as follows:

Promotion and relegation (relevant to senior men’s football competitions only)

The WRFL Board determined that promotion and relegation will not be applied ahead of the 2022 season.

In making this determination, the Board identified that fundamental to the promotion/relegation process was the completion of a finals series. As desperately as the entire WRFL community wanted to complete a finals series this season, the Board acknowledged the reality that this had not been able to occur.

In reaching its decision, the WRFL Board also took into consideration the minimal number of senior matches completed over the past two seasons (2020-21), recognising the significantly reduced sample size of completed matches to adequately inform any promotion/relegation process. The Board also recognised the inequities between different club fixtures as a result of intermittent lockdowns throughout the season, acknowledging the varied implications these lockdowns had on respective club fixtures and in turn the make-up of competition ladders at the time the season came to an abrupt end in early August.

All clubs were recently surveyed for their views on promotion/relegation, with responses showing that the decision not to apply promotion/relegation at this time aligned with the majority view of WRFL clubs.

Minor Premierships

The WRFL Board determined to acknowledge and recognise the team on top of the ladder when the season was cancelled with a Minor Premiership (all competitions).

While consideration was given to the awarding of Premierships as opposed to Minor Premierships, the decision to award Minor Premierships only again acknowledged the reality that despite its best efforts, the League was unable to play a finals series across any one competition, with the completion of a finals series again considered critical in order to recognise and award fully fledged Premierships.

Junior Minor Premiers will be presented with Minor Premier medallions.

The decision to award Minor Premierships for the teams on top of the ladder when the season was cancelled again aligned with the majority view of WRFL clubs.

League Best & Fairest and associated awards

The WRFL will present individual awards (Best & Fairest, leading goal kickers, Coaches MVP etc), with the award ceremonies to be presented online over the coming weeks. Further details to follow.

Aspects relating to senior Team Points and ‘salary caps’ will be finalised over the coming week.

The WRFL Board wishes to again take this opportunity to thank all clubs, players, parents, volunteers, officials, umpires and commercial partners for their support and understanding throughout a challenging 2021 season.

what a joke scrap the season and start fresh next year, the wrfl did not put any time or care into div 3 this season no one wants a consultation “minor premiers” award. Also how can you award a league b&f when some teams have played 3 games more then others? Cachia/lawrie will probably win it anyways. Point is it wasn’t an even season and no point with all this bull 🤷‍♂️

This division desperately needs another team.

West Footscray drop down and a Melton team (Melton South?) join Div 2?

Can Werribee Centrals be coerced into joining?

Rockbank Rams?

Has to be one of the worst divisions in Victoria, if not the worst.

I don't think adding teams is the answer. It's harsh, but I think the solution is to get to a two division structure with a focus on junior development.

We have too many teams too close to each other in low growth areas. Albion, Albanvale, Braybrook, St Albans, Sunshine, Deer Park, North Sunshine, (Caroline Springs is geographically close, but in a growth estate), North Footscray, West Footscray, Yarraville - That's 10 clubs (excl. CS) within 15-20 minutes of each other with not enough sponsor dollars and more importantly, not enough juniors to be sustainable in the long-term. A few mergers maybe?

Nup got a 4k sign on fee bush club
Jordan baumgartner going to anakie also

You must be pretty close to him to know that, where he is supposedly going to....Ballan

If the Suns announced him as assistant coach, does part of salary go outside salary cap?

They should have learned from the Tarneit, when the money dries up or is reduced they move on.

Pretty sure the Suns had facebook posts announcing signings over the past couple of weeks with these guys included. You wouldn't think the Suns would do this with out contacts being signed.

Tony Jofre new coach of Laverton
Was not expecting that. I wish him well but does anyone know what he will bring to the table? I know he grew up across the road from the ground and played some junior footy at Laverton but what attributes could he bring.

Ah well, you get that in the paying leagues I suppose.

"We're really excited to announce the signing of Todd Lawrie to the Talbot Hawks for season 2022. We've been tracking Todd for a couple of seasons and are really pleased to finally secure his signature.
Todd is based in Melbourne and joins us from the Wyndham Suns in the WRFL. He is a highly decorated player who's recent achievements include being a club captain, 4 time club best and fairest and 2 time league best and fairest. Todd will feature in our midfield and up forward. Welcome to Todd and his family!"

Humph.
