Tonight reinforces why I stop watching if we are schite. Afte 10 years of schite nothing changes. Sam Reid kicks a goal from 50 we are gone. We are the perennial dicktease. So boring and disappointing.

Lets not forget that Beachcomber has played 3 games in the last 2 months.

Without a genuine 3rd ruck we had to do it, he looked fit ish, just rusty as hell.

I miss David Hille

Exactly, with Joe out we just had to play him

24-11 to you tonight, 22-14 to us last night, although we actually sucked there's clearly something rotten in Denmark - Sydney `Manchester United' Swans were never going to be allowed to lose at home and Carltank are down on attendance. Nothing will change until other clubs make a united stand against corruption.

I think this is kinda odd. I might be misunderstanding, but after that horrible first quarter, we more or less went to toe to toe with Sydney but unfortunately we couldn't claw back the early mess. We certainly didn't crumble and we still had a reasonable chance until midway through the last. Was happy in that respect

It's a farce. We were also crap so the umps didn't cost us the game, but I'm tired of it. Don't have a problem vs any other team.

Kills the game and any momentum we were building

We need to man up better and be able to break the lines. Only way to beat the "rugby" style of play Sydney play.

No run bar ten minutes in the third. Swans out run us and we had a 14 day break. Poor

my favourite moment of the night was when a runner ran onto the ground literally as soon as the fourth quarter started

Nick Davis?

does it all the time, guards the corridor

Typical of us though. Lose the game then be admirable.

Don't forget if Frankiln played it would have been 10 goals not four.

Simply not good enough against the best. I don't like it but its a fact and it sadly doesn't change.

The last decent team we beat was who?

Pyke got a lot of hitouts. So what? How many were to advantage? Bellchambers playing allowed Ryder to go forward and have an impact.

Maybe to justify the conspiracy theory it is the umpires saying that Adam McPhee should never have been allowed to assist essendon win at the scg after kicking the ball from the third row in the members, and the two clubs who employed him will be forever cursed

Do-do-do-do...

Meanwhile on planet earth I think we got a pretty decent run from the umpires, and with Watson back and your last few games you could very easily jag a win or two in September. Good luck.

When a team like Sydney play the game on their terms for its entirety, the odds are they will win. Even in the 3rd we were playing Sydney-style footy (which you could argue is the style we need to perfect to win finals). But how often did we see the Essendon-style come out? Teams need to find a way of regaining the initiative off the Swans mid-game when they are 'on'. Obviously, daring corridor footy can unsettle them but that requires confident precise footy. I think there needs to be a less-risky momentum shifting tactic that gets things back on the opponents terms.

Our delivery into the forward line was woeful. Sydney close up the space better than most so our efficiency had to be spot on. Unfortunately we just bombed it in or kicked wide.

Ehh, we were totally outclassed by the better team tonight. Let's not forget that this team beat Geelong by 110 points at the same ground. They also had Hawthorn on the ropes last week and could have blown them away if they weren't wasteful in the third. We have lots of improvement to make and a lot of players were down tonight.

As for the umps, yeah they were pathetic, but did people expect any different? Whether we like it or not, we are going to cop this crap against Sydney every time we play. No use complaining about it.

I also believe that Sydney's dour, rugby style gameplan is the exact counter to our possession game. This explains why we've had trouble against Sydney since 2011 (they smashed us in 2012 too before that comeback). Their gameplan is a pinch of Ross Lyon's defensive rugby style, and a pinch of the swarm and gut running that Collingwood used in 2010. This is evidenced by the manic pressure and the fact there is 5 Sydney players at each contest compared to our 2, and the fact that they run/shepherd/create options. The difference between the two sides is that this Swans lineup is far more talented. If we were playing a team who base their game on free-flowing football on a larger ground, then this performance would be 100% unacceptable. However, as we played the best team in the comp, on their own backyard which suits their style, I'm prepared to cut the team slack.

Prior to tonight, I think our top wish was to come out and not have our % battered. We have done well in that respect. Our attitude tonight was also a major problem. The lethargic approach we gave in the first half kicked our ass. It's upto Bomber to motivate the boys and for the players to be switched on and ready to go.

Didn't mind the Bellchambers selection all things considered i thought it was a reasonable move in light of how tall the Swans team is and the lack of a second option up forward and in the ruck. I was not expecting too much from Bellchambers other than to give a contest - and generally i think he did. I'm not sure though if he will play again next week to be honest - i probably would send him back to the VFL to get some form and fitness for a few weeks.

Our disposal was disappointingly bad and i have no doubt that a few of our players struggled with the pressure Sydney were bringing. Dempsey in particular was godawful with his disposal. Gone off the boil massively the last 2 games.

Hurley and Ryder were terrific. Then there was about 6 or so players that were pretty decent. I thought Zac Merrett showed a lot as well - great forward half pressure and just knows where to run. In a few years he will be the player that all the teams tag.

Anyway the main thing is to get some wins on the board in the next few weeks against teams not in the 8. Beating Sydney at the SCG was always going to be a tough ask.

Sydney were the better team. Every time I hear fellow Essendon supporters blame the umps I think of the Adelaide supporter against Collingwood. "we were robbed, robbed!"
I reckon the umps cost a team a win once every blue moon, and the moon was plenty white tonight.

On a different note, we missed Hibberds disposal and decision making.
Trade Dempsey yesterday please.
