This "from the backline" stuff is so 1970s. Most country district league clubs use complicated rotations now that render a three-man follower division meaningless.
But who can resist? Certainly not me. I was born in the 70s.
So here's my marginally modernised version:

B: Houli Rance Grimes
HB: Vlaustin Astbury McIntosh
C: Grigg [mid rotation] Prestia
HF: Martin Griffiths Menadue
F: Lloyd Riewoldt Edwards

Int: B.Ellis Markov Rioli Nankervis

R1 - Hampson Cotchin Caddy Miles

then ...

R2 - Nankervis Cotchin Martin B. Ellis
R3 - Hampson Caddy Prestia Miles
R4 - Nankervis Martin Vlaustin Edwards
R5 - Griffiths Cotchin Caddy Prestia
etc.

emerg C. Ellis, Short, Conca,

Best 22

FB: Vlastuin / Rance / Grimes
HB: Houli / Astbury / Yarran
C: B.Ellis / Martin / Grigg
HF: Edwards / Riewoldt / Caddy
FF: Rioli / Griffiths / Lloyd
Foll: Nankervis / Cotchin / Prestia
Int: Miles / Conca / McIntosh / Markov

A few guys there that still need to solidify themselves in the first team, but hopefully some others biting at their heels from the VFL

Reserve 22

FB: Morris / C.Moore / Batchelor
HB: Short / Chol / Hunt
C: Menadue / Townsend / C.Ellis
HF: Lennon / Elton / Castagna
FF: Butler / Maric / Soldo
Foll: Hampson / Lambert / Drummond
Int: A.Moore / Broad / DRAFT PICKS

Some exciting young players in there, plus some solid older players who can cover for injuries or poor form.

I'm assuming we promote and delist a few more guys to make list room for some rookie draftees.

FB. Grimes/Astbury/Vlastuin
HB. Houli/Rance/Yarren
C. K,Mac/Prestia/BEllis
HF. Martin/Griff/Edwards
FF. Rioli/Reiwalt/Lloyd

Int. Grigg,Miles,Markov,Menadue.

I put Caddy on ball cos i thought thats why he came to us.
That midfield looks great with Dusty switching through there.
I dont know much about Nankervis so i have Griff infront.
CEllis, Conca, Lennon, Morris and Lambet to push for games..

Just for fun I guess..

2016 shows only the 22 that played the most games for comparison.

2017 assumes that every player on the list is available.

If Yarran doesn't play, then I would bring in Short

I don't believe on gifting games. If the cubs are good enough, they will force their way into the side. I expect Short & Castagna will be the 1st ones to force their way in.
I have Griffiths and Nank changing on the bench. I prefer a mobile player on the ground than a ruckman resting in the forward line.

You are all thinking outside the 4 walls

I am extremely confident Dimma is restructuring our best 22 as follows:

FB: Short
HB: Rance / Morris / Vlastuin / Houli / Astbury / Grimes / B.Ellis / Martin / Caddy / Prestia / Hunt
C: Cotchin
HF: Riewoldt
FF: Lloyd

Foll: Maric / Hampson / Grigg

Int: Conca / Griffiths / Rioli / Lambert

Emerg: Lennon / Batchelor / Nankervis / Vickery

You seem to share my love of spreadsheets (even when no number crunching is required). I have several google sheets that look a lot like the above.

Love your dangerous spirit of adventure. The forward six combination makes me tremble. I would name Rance at CHB and let the oppo guess, * 'em.
He probably could dominate a game from BP. Wouldn't be surprised,

To me that team does not look overally good. I dont understand what the jizzing type comments abouts. Line that team up against GWSs and you will have something then to be in awe of. Comparing their fringe players with our is where you can see the massive difference lies.

Depends how Griff and Astbury travel, if Griff finds consistency with Vickery gone and presumably not having to backup ruck, and Astbury can build on this year it doesn't look awful. I'm more worried about depth, Menadue, CEllis, Markov etc all need to start moving up a level, they're promising but we need people like BEllis pushed out of the team.

Getting Caddy would be nice
Griff is approaching year number eight and we are saying "if he finds cionsistency". I think we know the answer. Astbury a plodder - but we can't afford either to get hurt.
