I think the damage was done with the initial offer and the lack of coming to the party for months there after until it was to late.
I think something similar to the Yarran trade will eventuate.
Bombers will demand a first pick, Carlton won’t want to pay it. Then they’ll find a late first round pick and the trade will be done. Both teams will celebrate the Success of the trade.

I’m not as upset as many about losing him. We are going nowhere and we shouldn’t be offering him anywhere near what he wants. Take a pick in the late teens, early 20’s, bank the money and do a proper rebuild. I’d be cutting a whole lot more from this list too if I was in charge of list management. A deeper look into list age profiles, stats like quarters won and just the fact good players are nominating Carlton while good players are leaving Essendon paints a picture of where each club look to be heading at this stage.
