I know a few people who work in the age care disability sector and they had a survey go out about how they feel about the government forcing them all to be vaccinated in order to work and about 20% of all workers Australia wide have said they don't like being the guinea pigs and don't want to be vaccinated until they know more information about the vaccines and their potential side effects.

They are all threatening to walk out and quit if they're told it's compulsory for you to be vaccinated to work in this sector.

I'm not sure the Federal government is ready for how absolutely up s**t creek they'll be if all those people walk.

Gladys probably should have kept her mouth shut about the Victorian lockdowns. Now she's trying a lockdown-lite because she's backed herself into a corner and it's not going well.
Can't agree. Good on her for calling out Stairman Dan's incompetence. If her Government stuffs it up as badly as his, then she should be called out too.

A fairly selfish attitude from people working in close contact with those most at risk

Whilst I agree, and the people I know who work there have already been vaccinated, I feel the media is partly to blame by sensationalizing any thing to do with the vaccines and whilst there are some not bright people around there are some who are just scared.

In reality you're more likely to get a blood clot taking 'the pill' than you are having the vaccine.

I am in hospital, and have been since Easter.

During the week, one of my OT’s wheeled me around the grounds for some air. We met volunteer Peter, who was cleaning an outdoor bbq at Flinders Medical Centre in their big courtyard.

I don’t remember how we got on the subject, but Peter said that if he’s forced to get a vaccination, he’ll quit. He went on to say that he’s been watching videos not on YouTube but I think he said Pitchfork, and it spells out blah blah blah

At this point I stopped him and said that everything he has said is bullshit. I had to repeat myself twice because he and my carer were shocked I’d called him out presumably everyone nods politely when they wait for idiots to shut up.

But imagine that. You volunteer at Flinders and you'd rather quit than get a vaccine because YouTube told you otherwise. How ******* stupid do you have to be.

It started with politics IMO. The Opposition challenged the quality of the vaccines to say that the Government had got the "wrong vaccine." Guardian leads the charge, ABC follows.

Well everyone has a choice and the majority of the world is getting vaccinated. Think they actually need to think it thru.

Social media and places like SAD have a lot to answer for. Seriously, if these people dropped off the planet our collective IQ would go up.

You listen to the experts in their field than some random video. The bigger issue is how do we stop this misinformation in our society with the likes of Qanon etc.

You just can’t help yourself, can you? Well the government put all its eggs in one basket, the Astrazenca one and got a few Pfizer (10 million doses) rather than getting a range of vaccines. Eventually the political pressure made them see how they botched it up and now others and additional does are available.

And lets not forget how we have the government changing its tune over who can get what vaccine.

But hey, its all the Opposition and media fault.

The only problem at the moment is this outbreak is occurring 12 months after the big Vic one and given the data we know have 12 months later, this is just incompetence given what we already know.

Gladys played Russian roulette and has lost. Don’t any of the other outbreaks in other states since the big Vic outbreak resulted in a loss of life. I could be wrong but don’t think so.

2019 Influenza Outbreak: 15th July 2019

92 deaths
56 in May alone
20,500 cases
119,000 cases nationally
400-500 weekly cases

"We've had 87 outbreaks reported to us in residential care facilities and there have been 92 deaths," SA Health communicable disease expert Dr Louis Flood said.

"Most of the deaths this year have occurred in older people — 65 and over.

"We have had, I believe, six deaths in people younger than that."

The 10 additional fatal cases have not occurred in the past week, but have been added as more deaths were retrospectively attributed to the flu.

They include a man in his mid-40s.

No restrictions implemented, no lock downs implemented.

Makes an absolute farce of the handling and scaremongering of Covid.

NSW had more community cases yesterday than any state/territory (other than Victoria) has had in total, since the initial lockdown period.

Bravo. Your mental gymnastics are more entertaining than the footy this year.

I don't watch the ABC or read the Guardian. I saw the reports about blood clotting and was concerned but knew the chances were pretty low. Then other countries started pulling Astra. Then as soon our own government stopped recommending it for people in my age group, I wasn't going to touch that s**t with a 50 foot barge pole. When its bad enough that even our negligent federal government is concerned enough to stop recommending it, fully well knowing they had put all their eggs in the Astra basket, I take that as a massive red flag.

The residents they are vaccinated.
The vaccination doesn’t stop transmission.
Theoretically only the vulnerable require vaccination.

Yes, you live with it once people are vaccinated (much like the flu) but until then you lockdown as this is more contagious than the flu.

Carers who don't care should look for a new job.

No one is vaccinated for the flu though. Would be lucky if 20% are because it’s not needed.

Sorry every job has it requirements, if you don’t the requirements then move on. Get vaccinated or get another job. Your choice.
Why get vaccinated if it doesn’t stop you passing the virus around. It makes zero sense.
Protect yourself is all that is acceptable in my opinion. This is as objectionable an argument as forced sterilisation.

An employer is well within its rights to ask you to be vaccinated. Your choice.

Because perhaps you don’t want to get Covid-19 and the potential not necessarily to die but to get long Covid-19. We don’t know the long term effects of this disease - we know it attacks the heart/lungs etc.

And whilst on vaccinations - way to go GOP - a novel way to reduce your base

Looks like the usual misinformation peddlers on this forum are in overdrive about cases / deaths in red states. Latest worldometers data shows California and new York the worst for deaths with 5 of the top 7 states affected being blue states

Congratulations on missing the point completely, or are you just attempting to deflect again?

The figures you are quoting are totals since the start of the pandemic. The article kirky quoted is discussing current trends. These are two very, very, different things.

did you miss the part in the chart that shows daily cases..seems like California, New York and New Jersey are leading the way still to this day. Remind us all again..what colour states are these?

3/4 of the column was blank, with only 13 of 50 states having reported yesterday. Looks like most of the states weren't reporting testing numbers over the weekend.

Anyone who reads too much into data which is so obviously complete is either an idiot, driving an agenda, or both.
