Just got home from the Royal Richmond post game. Wasn’t as busy as I thought it would be, not sure why. Quite a few Lions boys celebrating the win. Grabbed a couple double quarter pounders no pickles and a large fries, fair chance regret it in about 4.5 hours when the kids get up and I’m on the couch. Anyway onwards and upwards, bring on the cats next Fri night, backing up Sat at the Eastern footy league Prem league GF.

Places have been quiet since Covid.

You'd expect that next week that Daniher and Big O come back in for Fullarton and Fort with Lyons possibly coming back in also.
I don’t think Lyons comes back in. He’s been terrible all season and has no defensive run. Dev at least provides that, if Berry is thrown in the guts going forward instead of on the wing, Dev can play there where as Lyons can’t.

Berry has been hampered massively by injury in the last few years and has lacked any continuity. Some were concerned about his early season form but all he needed was some continuity and games under his belt. Has become a great player in the back end of the year.
If his body is up to it he should be in the middle most weeks. Happy to have him on the wing to give his body a rest from the bash and crash but he adds size and defensive run that we don’t normally have. I believe the same thing about Robertson as well.

Not trying to take anything away from Brisbane at all, Melbourne needed to score 2 goals in 1.20 minutes anyway….

But people keep saying you can’t just drop the ball when tackled, I have seen every week players from every game just drop the ball and it is not paid HTB.

The inconsistency on dropping the ball and also the ‘didn’t get it out’ is simply random at this point.

Thoughts on a straight sets exit? 🤔
never understood the straight sets philosophy. the first game is always against a top 4 team. no shame in a loss there.

the loss to Brisbane was bad, simply because Bris are one of the weaker teams in the 8 (imo) but when you miss set shots this is what happens. We continually let the door ajar and the game was done when Ah Chee kicked a goal on the half time siren. Gave them all the momentum that they should never have had.

But we won the flag last year. Better effort than 17 other teams can say after this season finishes.

Straight sets means you lose 2 finals in a row and are eliminated just to clarify.

Frustrating that we continued to lose the same way, all the way to the bitter end. We look banged up and haven’t been able to run out games. If we don’t ice it in the first half, we are in trouble. As soon as Brisbane lifted their intensity there were danger signs left, right and centre.

Need to get that edge back from a fitness POV, fix our forward line (can’t take much more Ben Brown), and find other ways to win than simply battering teams in the middle for 120 minutes.

"The game was done" when you were 22 points up and the opposition had kicked a massive run on of ONE goal? :confusedv1:

No wonder Melbourne lost if this is the attitude....

And yet you couldn’t put us away until the last 2 minutes- and most neutrals thought Coll should have won, we’re it no for some questionable umpiring.
When the neutral are backing the Pies that really speaks volumes.
Always hear about umpiring when coll lose a close one
