Teaching our young players the tempo of AFL footy, when to attack, when to defend when the floodgates are about to open from the oppo. It's a work in progress, going to take a few years to get our younger boys into seasoned hard bodies. That's why today I clearly noticed our veterans putting their bodies into and under packs to during key moments in the game to protect the cubs. Loving what Jonty Faull and Tom Sims are showing but to expect 18 year olds to shoulder the load against seasoned oppo defenders is a big ask. That's why we need to keep Tom Lynch on the field at all costs.

I don’t mind it when the young players **** up, and they do, because it might just be that they’re no good; by far, the worst part of today were the pathetic efforts of guys like Vlastuin, Lynch, and Taranto, who pissed away a chance to give their young teammates a win

We don’t really have a garden but, since you ask, when the score was 18 to six, I made the prediction that we’d get four or five goals down and struggle to kick consecutive goals and that’s more or less the way it panned out. I don’t claim any unique skill in this department, however, it’s just stuff that should be more or less self-evident for anyone who’s watched these teams play this year.
So you didn't watch the second quarter then. I hope the lawn looks schmick.

Jonty needs a break …replace with small…it’s a special night for MRJ ylid think

Balta will be out bc curfew…Blight or Gray in
I'm tempted to say Gray to replace Balta but I'm with you on Jonty maybe having a rest and Sims / Lynch the key forwards. MRJ to come back in for his special night too. Media will be all over Bombers this week. Yze should be drilling it into the boys to expect a response from them early. If we hold Bombers in first half I can see us running over the top of em !!

Completely off topic, but have you seen RoboDoc: The Creation of Robocop? It's great viewing, with plenty of stories that will make you love the film even more.

No, but now I need to hunt this down. Absolute classic. Up there with The Running Man.

I'm all for rotating the kids, and letting them play AFL then head back to the VFL to build some form and work on a few things before coming back.

I reckon Faull could use that spell at the moment to kick a few goals and take some marks at VFL level for 2-3 weeks then bring him back.

Sims and Lynch is enough, and Lefau could be an option too if desperate.

And keep in mind, we lose Balta on Friday night due to the curfew. So I reckon ins will be:
Out - Balta and Trainor (rest)
Ins - Gray and Short.
And I am hoping Lefau has a solid 3 to 4 game block because Faull could use a breather soon.

Tell me you don't understand where we are right now without telling me you don't where we are... If you can't handle the ups and downs of an inexperienced team, then bugger off and jump back on in a couple of years when we are better. Taranto was a star today... yes we had set shots that missed but so did they. Just like last week. Just relax... in the scheme of things, the result meant nothing today (or will mean nothing in 12 months), the effort did and it was there.

blight needs to come in for miller

miller is a massive spud, stevebuscemi.gif
Thought Miller cost us two goals do not see any point playing him in front of Blight and Gray give them some time
Can we finally just play McAulliffe over Dow who once again showed he is a good vfl player he is about our 27-30th best player
Steely Green way too quiet for me don’t know whether he makes it that shot on goal which got smothered shows he is not up to the pace of the game he just hesitated instead of kicking it straight away
Why we played Smith as sub baffled me he was out marked cause he just too small and then has three poor turnover kicks play another sub we may just have won the game

Essendon coming off a 91 point belting. Betting for Dreamtime. Essendon $1.40, Richmond $2.96. I've seen this story before.

The media will be getting into Essendon all week. We would want to start well.

Gees Kano was very good in his 2nd game…6 tackles, 22 disposals….pity he kicked that point instead of a goal

Kane is a very good player…strong, tackles hard….he needs to play every game this season
100%Agree he needs time on the middle he’s way better than Dow and has a huge upside just hope they keep playing him rest of the season

Unfortunately, you’re like a lot of people on here, who have this exhaustingly simplistic view of things. It’s not an inexperience issue when, time and again, it’s our experienced players letting us down. So many of them just look like they’re collecting pay cheques in the post-Hardwick era.

I see Miller is copping it again after keeping one of the best key forwards in the comp to 2 goals and zero impact otherwise while Balta got touched up by a bloke who needs a walking frame to transport between contests and gets off scot free.
Balta copped a few buckets in the game day thread.

100%. Some of the comments seem ridiculous. But I guess each to their own.
