Final rank: 4658
Highest rank: 4658
Lowest rank: 26,317 (Round 3). Notably 15,103 at the Byes.

Highest score - 2600 (Round 16 like everyone else)
Best trade - Probably Rowell to Sinclair for 520k in Round 5 before everyone else jumped on
Worst trade - So many to choose from. Most of them were solid decisions at the time, and time again I'd probably do most again. Was keen on Durdin to Docerty all season at the Bye rounds, but got talked out of him and got Crisp instead. I regretted that all year.

Would have their babies - errrr, biology says no
Never again - Shitfield. Cripps. Both were on my never again list. One started Round 1, the other I couldn't resist. The itch has been scratched, they can both * off again. Oh. Did I mention Dusty?

Regrets - Starting lineup. Went with 5 ultra premo MIDs. Solid thinking, but unfortuantely for the first time in as long as I can remember, every MID over 550k had good and poor weeks in the first 5 rounds. Not many had 5 tons after 5 rounds.

Like everyone, 10 trades used on Rucks. Seriously thinking of getting the cheapest full-time rucks at R1 and R2 next year - any Ruck with a heartbeat will score 70 by just walking on to the field. Freeing up the $1.5 million I normally expend in that division to be used elsewhere will revolutionise my starting team.

I was happy with the early use of the boosts - but I hope these boosts are removed next year. They were put in place to cover late COVID outs which is hopefully a thing of the past now. Everyone getting to full premo so early really made for a boring back half of the year.

Finally getting around to this

Final rank:
767
Highest rank: 767
Lowest rank: 59,376

Highest score: 2,616 (Round 16)
Average: 2,320

Best trades:
  • O'Driscoll ($296k) to Dawson ($519K) in Round 9. Dawson averaged around ~114 from this point.
  • Keays ($474k) to Wines ($495k) after Round 21. Wines averaged 138.5 over the last two games, Keays 56.
  • Durdin ($278k) to Bont ($583k) in Round 14. Bont averaged 122 from here.
  • Bowey ($370k) to Sicily ($474k) after Round 4. Sicily averaged 116 from here.
Worst trades:
  • Ridley ($480k) to Tom Green ($546k) in Round 7. Green lasted in my team for five weeks and averaged 91.4 (made worse by the following trade)
  • Tom Green ($489k) to Tim English ($598k) after Round 11. English went from averaging 128 to 90.5 for me, while also missing two games.
  • to Ben Keays ($550k) after Round 12. Keays went from averaging 114 and only missing the ton once in 12 games (picked him for consistency), to then averaging 88 for me, including a 40, 61 and 68. Thank god I jumped off for the last two games.

Would have their babies: Rory Laird, James Sicily, Will Brodie, Touk Miller
Never again: Ben Keays, Jack Crisp, Jayden Short, Jordan Ridley, Brayden Preuss, Patrick Cripps

Biggest regrets: Anything related to Tim English and Ben Keays, not starting Cripps, trading Cripps in, trading Cripps back out, then trading Cripps in again, keeping Jack Crisp, trading Daicos out at around $380k, not having a trade left in R23 to cover Walsh being a late out.

Captaincy average: 133.39 (266.78)

Summary: Didn't quite back up last year's 41st place finish, but overall, a strong recovery from my worst-ever start (outside of top 20k after four rounds). Biggest disappointment was losing my BF Div 1 prelim by six points after finishing on top of the ladder and top in points overall, also went out in straight-sets in the Hall of Fame league after finishing four games clear on top of the ladder. Still, another fun year :)

Reasonable team on paper but average on field. Once again finished side with a rookie d6 and eating donuts the last month. No bench cover. Totally lost interest final 5-6 weeks tbh. Agree with Jiska cheap rucks are probably the go next year and use that money for better balanced start team.

Until then kents take care and see you in ‘23.

Highest C score - 344 Gawn (Round 7)
Lowest C score - 230 Neale (Round 9)

Rounds 21 & 22 were a disaster. Lost all my 6 matchups (3 & 3) in those 2 rounds. Dropped 2,106 places.
Starting with Brodie, Dawson & Sicily worked out well.
Never having Laird or Sinclair hurt.
Traded English & Marchbank in for both to get injured and trade out the next week.
Dodged a bullet trading Whitfield out in round 3.
Started with Dusty. Not a good move.
Brain fade. Start Durdin. Trade him out round 3, back in round 5, out again in round 10.

Final rank - 16,833

Highest rank -33,837 round 9

Lowest rank - 4,693 round 2

Highest score - 2,547 round 11

AVG - 2,247
Best trade - trading in Sinclair at round 10

Worst trade - double downgrade to get Steele in round 9. Could of went Laird, Steele got injured in this game and Laird went next level.

Would have their babies - starting Sicily, Brodie and Coniglio.

Summary - has a year I would like to forgot. Had 7 players who got injured the week I traded them in, that’s a 1/5 of my trades wasted. Most of my premiums trades in post round 8 didn’t work out.

Main examples below and trades history attached for reference. Highlighter players are players I traded in that got injured/suspended that round.

Parish, played 2 games. Injury affected score, held him through injury. Came back for one game and got injured again.

Walsh
averaged 116.6 out of team 9 games
Averaged 106 in my team 11 games

Witts
averaged 119.5 out of team 12 games
Averaged 98.4 in my team, 10 games

Vlaustin
averaged 104.5 out of team 17 games
Averaged 88.8 in my team, 5 games

Steele
averaged 113.4 out of team 10 games
Averaged 105.2 in team , 8 games

Taranto
averaged 93.4 out of team 12 games
Averaged 85.2 in team, 4 games

Cummings
Ave 98.2 out of team, 16 games
Ave 83.6 in team, 5 games.

Some of the above were traded in out of necessity, due to injuries and needing to keep winning. Best of what I could get.

Biggest regrets - held underperforming premiums for too long and didn’t jump on the cash cows at start of year.

Final rank : 263
Highest rank: 69
Lowest rank: 3526
Highest score : 2627. Only 1 score for the season in weekly top 1000. Team not good enough to jag any big scores.
Best trade: Rnd 8 Out-JHF In-Parker/and/ Rnd 9 Out-N Martin In-R Laird
Worst trade: In and out of every second ruck on the board.
Would have their babies: Laird...and Parker as a fwd was a true gift at <$500K
Never Again: Rucks over $550K. Short and Crisp were anvils on my team 2nd half of season. Never again. English is too precious and frail.
Rugrats: Not going harder mid season just after byes. I assumed i[d keep improving and tried to save a few trades. Cost me dearly.

Happy enough mid season and trying to structure for an assault on a win. But got bogged down with injuries and couldnt get back on the front foot....then a tsunami of improving teams caught up to me July/August. I was pretty ordinary for 2nd half of the season this year.
