I heard that last year he was struggling to acclimatise in the VFL, which was surprising but also not unheard of for a first year player. Not sure how he's gone since then but he's a natural that's for sure.
There was an article on him earlier this year. He talked about he originally had a poor attitude to training and didn't take much of it seriously. Stepped up towards the end of the season. Would have been good to see how he went this year

Probably just a culture shock. Went from leading his team's midfield in juniors and starring to then playing third or fourth fiddle in a VFL side against men. But I would not be shocked at all if he went on to be as good as the top mids from his draft year in Walsh and Smith.

Riley Collier-Dawkins:

Matt crouch should be targeted. Don’t think any crows from that camp are happy to be there.

Also I’d be having a crack at macrae, very good in and under. He has been overtaken by bont, Dunkley and now smith in the pecking order. An opportunity with us could see him establish himself as the number 1 option in the middle

Caldwell: GWS 183cm, 82kg, p11 2018 .. 4 gamesout of contract
Hately: GWS 190cm, 83kg, p14 2018 .. 9 games; out of contract

Sier: 191cm, 88kg, p32 2015 .. contracted end 2021
Constable: 191cm, 86kg, p36 2017 .. contracted end of 2021
Wines: contracted end of 2022, becomes RFA
Petracca: contracted end of 2022, becomes RFA
Petruccelle: Eagles 185cm, 80kg, p38 2017, 26 games; out of contract
Graham: Tigers 181cm, 82kg, p53 2016, 42 games; out of contract
Xavier OHalloran: GWS 186cm, 84kg, p22 2018, 0 games; out of contract

Heres a run down of some of the mids been mentioned - blue is out of contract this year.
If we're looking for a big bodied mid.. RCD, Hately, and OHalloran.. all high picks in the 2018 'super' draft making them 3rd year players in 2021, and not getting a game at their clubs.

We've got enough 180-185 cm mids.. Florent, Rowbum, Warner, Hewett, *Campbell

Feels like we are a meme now used by agents to increase the contract of their player.
haha.. yep, sorry bout that..
to be honest, Ive no idea what the Swans are planning, no idea of list sizes and what impact that will have on trades..
but I am keen for the Swans to keep building on the 3rd-5th year players, keep drafting, and get 1 or 2 experienced but expendable players to do some of the heavy lifting next year
and a ruck!!

Yes to any of the blue except Petruccelle.

If we signed Hately or Caldwell they are immediately our best mid.

Not true. I actually (maybe foolishly) predicted Caldwell would be the best mid of his draft class, which included Walsh and Smith. But on exposed form at this very early stage, both he and Hately would be behind JPK, Parker, Florent and Rowbottom.

I would not say no to either though.

You seriously think two 19 year olds with a combined 13 AFL games between them would immediately be our best midfielders? Get your hand off it.

Stats from their best games this year:

Caldwell: 14 disposals, 4 tackles, 0 clearences
Hately: 21 disposals, 2 tackles, 0 clearences

Compared to:

Kennedy: 25 disposals, 6 tackles, 10 clearences
Parker: 30 disposals, 6 tackles, 12 clearences
Florent: 27 disposals, 2 tackles, 7 clearences
Rowbottom: 18 disposals, 3 tackles, 5 clearences

Two quality young players, but come on, they don't have anywhere near the runs on the board to compare to what those four have achieved at AFL level.

I wish we could get Graham from Richmond. Unfortunately Horse would probably use him as a tagger so not a lot would be gained.

RCD is an interesting one. I was a big fan of him in his U18s. He, Jack Ross and Rowbottom were an incredible trio to watch. Their chemistry as mids was like they'd been playing together for a decade. JPK & Hanners-like. Would be keen to see 2/3 reunited.

But risky when you start trying to poach highly-valued youngsters from other clubs, with no guarantee that they'll amount to much, and you've just wasted a potential opportunity to trade in a known quantity for a kid.

Still salty that Ross was taken the pick right before what became our McInerney pick. Would have been perfect to pair him up with Rowbottom again and get another (good) inside mid to help

Agreed. We wouldn't have got him anyway because if we plucked McInerney from relative obscurity it means he was always going to be our pick at that spot. But yeah Ross and Rowbottom complimented each other very well in the U18s, as did both with RCD. I managed to catch a few of their games live while in Melbourne during their draft year and gee whiz all three were so smart and clean and hard. And somehow Richmond ended up with two of them!

Think it's a case of the grass being greener on the other side.

Except in this case it's not.

We had a look at Caleb Marchbank last year as part of the Papley workings and he is supposedly out of contract this year so I could see us pushing for him again, I kind of doubt Moore will be available now that he is good so Caleb would be a great KPD target. Wouldn't mind asking for a Setterfield type either who is also OoC.

Marcus Adams may be recruitable and I always liked him, just needs to get fit.

A ruckman is a must, didn't notice many serviceable, proven ones as OoC unless we somehow convince Nank to come back. Otherwise maybe taking a long term stab at buying low on Tim English or going for someone obscure like Max Lynch who will never get a game ahead of Grundy.

Should try to grab cox.

A cox upstairs, and a cox on the ground.

More cox is what everyone wants.

Caldwell has barely had a chance to play mid and when he has he's looked top quality. He has something you can't teach as a mid, genuine speed and vision. The query isn't his play it's his injuries but he has been fit for a good year and a half now.

Not a lot of ruck options available, and takes years to develop a low draft pick ruck. We are in trouble ruck wise, will take a year or two off of Sinkers career

Plenty on VFL rucks available.
